Knicks Jason Kidd retires

Quote:
Jason Kidd has announced his retirement from the NBA.

Kidd was the second overall pick out of California by the Dallas Mavericks in 1994.

Kidd was a 10-time All-Star and co-Rookie of the Year in 1995.

Kidd had multiple stints with the Mavericks, culminating in a title in 2011 when he had evolved into a more complementary piece. Kidd also led the Nets to multiple appearances in The Finals.

The New York Knicks had Kidd signed at $3.09 million for each of the 13-14 and 14-15 seasons.

“My time in professional basketball has been an incredible journey, but one that must come to an end after 19 years,” Kidd said. “As I reflect on my time with the four teams I represented in the NBA, I look back fondly at every season and thank each every one of my teammates and coaches that joined me on the court.”

Seems fitting that he and Grant Hill retire one after the other. It's like they had an ongoing bet to see who could stay in the league the longest.

I'd put him somewhere between Oscar Robertson and a young Jose Calderon.

It was definitely time, he couldn't even get the ball in the bucket any more. Definitely had a great run though, HOF'er for sure

wonder how things would have gone if he signed for the Spurs instead of the Nets. still made it to the finals twice with them.
passing, defending, rebounding and scoring. he could do it all

He got out before inevitably being compared to Beau Arthur's sagging breasts.

These retirement threads should have the logo of the team that would be retiring their jersey - if it happened.

Dallas for JKidd

Detroit for GHill

Hey, about time the wife beating, impaired driving prick retired.

And he's definitely in the top 10 for pg's. That shouldn't even be in doubt regarding Kidd - what a great pg in his day, loved watching him play on the Nets.

3rd all time in triple doubles (105) and 3 point makes (1988). His defense was crucial in the 2011 finals, stifling both Wade and even James at times. Brilliant career.

His hall of fame speech:

out of all the point guards i've watched, i'd put him top four. i'd rank him after magic and fighting out number two between thomas and stockton. he'd easily be second if he ever took the time to really concentrate on bettering his scoring mentality/ability.

Oh I don't know, I would go:
Magic
Robertson
Stockton
Thomas
Frazier
Cousy
Nash
Kidd
Payton
Wilkins

Definitely top 10 though.
