Jason Kidd has to be on shaky ground at this point?

Adrian Wojnarowski ✔ @WojYahooNBA

Assistant coach Lawrence Frank, who Nets "reassigned," has a 6-year deal that averages over $1 million a year. Breakup had been building.

Kidd lost cool w/ Frank inside a coaching staff meeting in early November, league sources say, and partnership was soon doomed to this end.

Jason Kidd is still a coach killer AS A HEAD COACH. You’ve gotta respect that commitment.

Hours after a blowout loss to the Orlando Magic – Kidd's first game on the bench following a two-game suspension to start the season – the entire coaching staff witnessed Kidd lose his temper with Frank and escalate a strangely uneasy and brief coaching partnership together.

There had been conversations about moving forward together in recent weeks, league sources said, but the decision to let go of Frank was Kidd's choice.Kidd told reporters on Tuesday night that Frank – the highest-paid assistant in the NBA – had been reassigned to writing daily reports and would no longer be on the Nets bench.

It is unclear if the Nets will actually require Frank to perform those duties to gather the rest of his $1 million annual coaching contract, league sources said."With Jason," one league source told Yahoo Sports, "once he turns on you, he turns. That's how he was as a player, and that's what we're seeing again now."

it seems like everyone who fucks with Jason Kidd is on shaky ground

what a mitch

How can the GM allow Kidd to act so carelessly? Dude is going to get paid to do nothing of value just because the new coach that is in over his head has an ego.

The idea behind hiring him originally was so flawed. You have a win now team and you hire a guy who has no coaching experience and is learning on the job. Now they're going to have to waste even more money in firing him, hiring a new big name head coach, assuming they can actually get one, and if not, their season is going in the toilet, and their unprotected lottery pick is going to Boston.

What a disaster.

Didn't Kidd beat his wife?

Nah, she was just designated for reassignment. Either that or it was a tie.

The Nets cheaped out on the ONE spot where it would have really paid to have some legit experience. And TBH.... in the summer they probably could have got almost anyone out there (save Phil Jackson) that they wanted.

Frank is a good coach with a sound bball mind. He deserves better than this.

Lord knows I'd take him here in a heartbeat.

rapsmannn 12-04-2013 07:29 AM

I've never heard of a former player hiring there former coach to be assistant usually its the other way around, maybe that's the real problem, jkidd should have put his time in like brian shaw did

but then again it worked out for marc Jackson but at least he had some separation between playing career and coaching

even if they turn it around which they probably will with deron Williams being healthy eventually it still going to be a big issue, almost makes them out to be amateur hour

I watched that Brooklyn vs Denver game, it seemed like kidd was a injured player on the bench doing some coaching and not a head coach, its like the inmates running the asylum with the smartest inmate getting paid to do nothing

This is getting uglier.

Lawrence Frank To Hire Legal Counsel For Likely Buyout Settlement

Lawrence Frank is in the process of gathering a “high-powered” legal counsel, likely to settle a buyout with the Brooklyn Nets.

Frank signed a six-year, roughly $6 million deal with the Nets in the off-season to be Jason Kidd's lead assistant coach.

Frank was reassigned to "daily reports" and no game or practice presence on Tuesday.

Kidd cited different philosophies in the split.

Lord knows Kidd won't last that long at this rate.

I doubt it, he's looking for a buyout. He's been there twice now and it's ended bad both times. I think he's had enough with the Nets. He can get another job

Hopefully the Raps pick him up and get rid of Dwit Casey.

NBA.com's David Aldridge reports Jason Kidd's sudden demotion of Lawrence Frank was preceded by several instances of in-fighting, culminating in a blow-up in which Kidd screamed: "Sit the (bleep) down! I'm the coach of this (13-letter word) team! When you're on the bench, don't (bleeping) move!". We're adults and we know what "(bleep)" means, but what 13-letter word could Kidd possibly have used? Here are 20 guesses.
