Same thing I said when people were down on the potential Nash signing. Any signs of slowing down are still just slowing down from incredibly fast to pretty darn fast. I fully expect the Spurs to be top 4 in the West, and Nash to be a gigantic part of the Lakers' title run.

He's a high-risk scorer because he relies quite a bit on knocking down the pull-up threes. Teams exhausted themselves guarding Durant and Westbrook by the time Harden would see the court.

I'm not saying he won't perform, but I would want to see how he does in a completely new situation before giving him a 5-year max deal.
It's got McGrady 2.0 written all over it, except there's a good chance we see the McGrady from Orlando. Giving him the max just kills any of the sexiness of acquiring him, for me.

That's the same issue I have. They paid full price though I understand why they did, but he now needs to live up to what some believe is franchise potential or he's just a player that shouldn't be paid so much and cost too much to get.

During extension talks with the Oklahoma City Thunder, James Harden and his agent sought a 15 percent trade kicker.

Harden was entertaining taking less than a max contract, but wanted a financial incentive should the Thunder trade him.

The Thunder were offering Harden a four-year contract in the neighborhood of $53 million.

With the Houston Rockets, Harden will be able to sign a five-year contract.

DUDE. I just realized we got Kyle Lowry for a protected first-round pick and Gary Forbes. BC got out like a bandit.

I feel like we'd be worse off with that, now. and much worse off in 4 years, when we think how did we pull off yet another loss of a tmac/vince combo?

Source confirms Yahoo! Sports report of five-year max deal 4 James Harden by Rockets. Based on current cap it would be just less than $80M.

James Harden and the Houston Rockets have agreed upon a five-year, $80 million contract extension.

Harden was acquired by the Rockets last Saturday in trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Harden was the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year last season and also won a gold medal as a member of the United States' basketball team.

Would you pay Harden $80mil? Harden is worth a lot but is he worth that much? I'm not sure he will be as effective now on defense with the new flopping rule

Seeking a trade kicker actually seems understandable in Harden's case. It's like saying "I'll take less money to play for you, Sam, but I want to be paid if I have to go somewhere else. "

If he had accepted a lower figure in order to stay in OKC and win, getting traded later on would suck on a couple of levels, especially a financial one.The deal he just got pays him an extra $24 million for just one added year to the contract. That's a lot of money...I'm sure his agent knew he had a chance to get that 5 year max. I think it's wise to seek a trade kicker in that type of situation. That, or you have to have some serious bank already saved up and not care about such a financial hit. Otherwise you risk losing lots of money AND your desired location in which to play.

In comparison, Durant makes about 1.2 million more per year.
