Isn't that what people have been saying for the past 3+ years about the Spurs?

Mehhh, this is the same every year. Although i understand it, when you look at their winning percentage the last 13yrs or so. I believe the best of any team in pro sports (out of the 4 major NA sports leagues).

I know, but at sometime they have to slow down. Last year was a sign IMO. Manu was injured, but he still had the lowest PPG in nearly 10 years. Duncan also slowed down. It's a sign of the times, and it sucks to see a good guy dynasty go down with all these jackasses like the Heat and Lakers running the show, but it has to happen.

Impressive, but only a 8.4 MPG sample size without Durant and a tad bigger without Westbrook. Need more to be wowed.

I see Harden scoring about 23-24 PPG this year.

True that but I'm a long time Spurs fan.....I think the West is sufficiently in disarray and the play/chemistry of the Spurs will trump the rest.

People keep saying the Spurs are old and slow, so slow they tallied 20 straight games into the playoffs. Lets give credit where credit is due, if it was for Harden's unbelievable play the Spurs are in the Finals - OKC doesn't have that ace in the hole any more.

Thats some good stats....I think Harden played something like 484min without both KD and RW on the floor last year and almost never played with RW. Harden is a big loss for OKC as they have decided to gamble on Maynor being healthy and Martin staying healthy.

@Bill Simmons‏
FYI: Harden did not "leave" OKC. They offered him less than his market value, he said no, they abruptly traded him. That's what happened.

His market value has yet to be determined, or did Houston already sign him to the max?

His market value is whatever he can get, and he will absolutely get a max deal.

So far I've only heard that he is expected to sign an extension, and that the trade worked because Houston could offer him what he wanted.

as far as I know they can. There was mention of that in an article that OKC couldn't as they already used their 'designated player' but a team like the Rockets could since they hadn't used their franchise tag yet.

'a player eligible for an extension to his rookie contract, and it would allow teams to offer that player a five-year extension instead of a four-year extension. The deal would come with 6.5 percent annual raises — the maximum raise available only to players with full Bird Rights.'

If this is wrong hopefully someone can correct it......

Hi risk move by Houston giving him the max for 5 years.

He's a high-risk scorer because he relies quite a bit on knocking down the pull-up threes. Teams exhausted themselves guarding Durant and Westbrook by the time Harden would see the court.

I'm not saying he won't perform, but I would want to see how he does in a completely new situation before giving him a 5-year max deal.

Harden won't wait but that's an excellent point.
