Hot damn he looks good in red. My dream scenario this upcoming off season involved letting Jose expire, Demar walk and amnestying Amir or Kleiza and making a fat max push for Harden. In Raptor red he and Lowry would form a tough-as-nails backcourt. Oh well. In any event, he's a stud.

been listening to a lot of bill simmons lately and there is one thing he's been trying to clarify. That is harden never wanted to be traded in the first place, but that harden's agent wanted one deal, OKC wanted another and when harden's agent stood his ground, OKC traded him.

Also, Harden's offer never included a hard-core assurance that Oklahoma City wouldn't use that "discount" against him by eventually trading that enhanced asset (a franchise player now making less than franchise money)1 for a collection of goodies. Remember when Boston talked Rajon Rondo into accepting a five-year, $55 million "discount" — $16 million less than he would have gotten on the open market the following summer — then dangled him for Chris Paul two years later? So much for "taking one for the team," right? What about Steve Nash signing a two-year, $22 million "discount" extension because Phoenix promised to use that extra cap space to boost a 2010 Western Conference finalist? Remember what happened? They allowed Amar'e Stoudemire to leave, brought in a bunch of Hakim Warricks and Josh Childresses and immediately became a lottery team. But thanks for taking the discount, Steve.

It's hilarious that OKC wanted to pay him less than his worth on the market, wouldn't give him assurances, threatened to trade him, and people think Harden is the bad guy? You guys know there's only one guy in the since stats were recorded that shot as efficiently as he did with as high a usage rate (Barkley)? And his number only went up without KD anf Westbrook on the floor? I would kill to have him on the Raps, yes as a max player. Harden+Lowry+Val would be a drool worthy core.

^pretty much exactly why I said the trade kicker was understandable in my post above. You don't be the good guy without protecting yourself. It's a recipe to get fucked.

With the James Harden trade, Oklahoma City just handed the Western Conference to the Lakers - Grantland
Reading that makes you really respect Harden for standing his ground.

No reason why he shouldn't avg 25+/gm and be one of the league's top scorers.

He clearly has the ability and excels in many aspects of the game. AND he plays with a good PG and will certainly get more than a few touches.

I might be wrong, but he didn't singed the extension, yet. So basically it's his contract year and well maybe he wants to earn more than 10-12 mln over the next years.

Harden is the new McGrady. All stats, but I'd bet money he won't taste playoff success as the first option.

He looks pretty dope so far but we'll see. Lin looks good beside him too. Harden already has one thing on T-Mac, he's been past the first round.

LX said the same thing in regard to the T-Mac comparison. Way too early to say that.

Have you guys considered the following:

1- When T-Mac went to Orlando, he was supposed to be playing with Hill. But Hill got injured and just ended up eating a bunch of cap space and making it very difficult for Orlando to surround T-Mac with supporting talent. For several years, Mike Miller was the second best player in the lineup most nights. That is not a recipe for playoff success.

2- In Lin, Harden might have a solid side-kick who ends up being better than anything McGrady had in Orlando. And McGrady's situation in Houston was complicated by injuries, so that's another story.

3- In addition to the possibility of Lin adding support, Houston could have substantial cap space next year. They have space, and due to "team options" on a few contracts, they have the ability to create even more. The Rockets have the flexibility to either go after a free agent scoring PF, or make a trade for one.

If I was Houston, I'd be trying to land a guy like Milsap to play alongside Asik in the frontcourt.

In my opinion, it's way too early to call him the next McGrady (in a negative way).

They have a pretty solid team around him.
For me I have always felt Harden's game was like Manu's but untill now he just hasn't been able to show it.
Now I know he doesn't have Tim Duncan at his side but Asik is a step in the right direction.

I'm just glad I drafted him for my fantasy team.
I have him, Lebron & Lowry so I'm set to win baby!
