I mean, you're not only earning that money tax free, you instantly become a "god", you play about 40 games less, and you brand your name all over the world, a la Beckham - that's what it's all about. I'm sure one of the Russian Oil tycoons will make a play for a superstar come 2 years time.
they should make a play for me!! If these guys really are going to pay these guys that much, why not? But i dont see how they will make enough $ off them to make it a profitable contract for the owner.

I agree with most of what you said, but LBJ is already a "god" and has his named branded worldwide, he doesnt need europe for that.

On the other hand, im a great deal for $50 a month, ill cheer half naked with duke blue devils speedos on

It's a whole different animal overseas. It's not the same as over here in terms of being a "god". And people do know who Lebron James is.. but more people know who David Beckham is. Going overseas would really boost his profile.

Wow.. you're really stooping low for beer money, aren't you?

Trust me, the only thing European clubs do not need (especially Greek clubs) is passionate fans.

Are you talking about that '04 Euro Cup win? If you are then you are right that was the biggest fluke ever

How is it a fluke? The beat big name squads. They had a system and they ran it into the ground and were successful.

It was a fluke as in, nobody expected them to come out of the round robin but they did and went on to win. Especially with really good teams in the Euro Cup it seemed like a fluke. Also, it is a fluke because they couldn't do it again and they didn't make it past the round robin

Im willing to bet a substancial amount of $ they will never see the final 4 of a major tournament again in my lifetime. That's why i consider it a fluke, its one of the biggest upsets in sports history.

What do all these have to do with LeBron coming to Europe, basketball being No.2 sport in Europe and football being No.1?

And since when americans know about football? You guys think the best player in the world is Mia Hamm and Lilly..

$50 million? That's how much an average MLE-level-type player gets in 10 years. I'd do that in a second.

Both you and Ugo go to the same school of ignorance?

Greece not only beat Portugal twice (once in the round robin and once in the finals - IN PORTUGAL), tied Spain, and beat teams in the knock-our round who finished at the top of their groups in France and the Czech Republic. That's not a fluke. They bought into their coach's system and they believed in themselves.

Greece didn't have an automatic berth into the 2008 Euros. They had to play their way there.

But even though they made it there they didn't win a game so that was only a one time thing that won't happen again

greece never outplayed a single team in the euros. i wouldn't call it a fluke, but i would say that their championship was an embarrassment to the sport.
