Blazers Jamal Crawford to opt out

Quote:
Jamal Crawford will be an unrestricted free agent for the second consecutive offseason.

A source confirms that Crawford will opt-out of his contract for 12-13 that would pay him $5.25 million.

Crawford signed with the Blazers last December after receiving offers from the Knicks, Wolves and Magic, among others.

I like Crawford but he's starting to age. He'd be nice here imo, but on a 2yr deal. Anything more would suck.

Barbosa fits in much better. On the court and without a doubt in the locker room. From what I hear, Barbosa was one of the most popular with the team. He worked hard too and loved T.O. Wouldn't risk Crawford.

Crawford has said he wants to go to Phoenix. There was a whole hulabaloo about it a few weeks ago. So, we'll see him in Phoenix next season.

1 down, like 9 more free agents to go.

Well, Alvin Gentry has even said that he'd like him in Phoenix.

Fans over here are nuts. They cheer louder for Babbitt then Batum. I guess it's OK to get embarrassed on all the road games, as long as Babbitt keeps launching 3's and getting them free tacos at the Rose Garden.

Spurs got this whole international All-Stud team going. They're keeping tabs on Batum. Blazers DO NOT want to spend 10 million on Batum, because that digs into their coveted free agent cap room.

Sources: Spurs eyeing F Nicolas Batum

Good points man. By the way, the Blazers may not want to spend 10M per on Batum, but they absolutely would have to and would match any offer of that amount. Batum is a very low risk to bust at this stage and his ceiling is still incredibly high. He's likely getting offered a deal in that range and I expect him to be in Portland next season unless a profitable sign and trade could be worked out for them.

If a Batum sign and trade isn't for John Wall, it would make no sense.

Crawford had his worst season since he was a rookie. It was a no brainer for him to leave. I just think it's funny that only 1 day after season's end, he's like "get me the heck outta here!"
