RealGM: Basketball Wiretap Archives: Grizzlies End Contract With Iverson

No big surprise here. The question is: does he have any future in this league at all? If he is only willing to be a starter, what team is ever going to sign him with such a promise?

Was bound to happpen. All these years in the league and he still hasn't learned. He puts his body on the line while on the court but off the court he's always been a mess. Glad he's gone, the team is young and could learn together.

The way I see there are probably only a few places where he could really excel (and get to start).

CHA - (reunited with the coach he respects the most... Larry Brown). And with G. Wallace, Diaw, Chandler and A.I. they'd have some decent talent.

N.Y. - He'd get to start there as well and he'd fit their freewheeling style perfectly.

G.S. - Same as N.Y.... but on the West Coast. Nellie gets his "Baron Davis" type player back.

MIA - A.I. & Wade? I'd give that a go. It's risky but it could pay off HUGE. The Heat still need that 2nd scorer to go to when Wade is resting.

I hope that he catches on with someone.... it'd be shame to see such a great player end his career this way.

Oops. Forgot him... heh-heh.

Another place that would be an interesting fit would be the Lakers... if there's anyone who's mastered handling egos it's the Zen Master. And the Lakers have always lacked in the PG spot. It hasn't really ever hurt them because of the style that they play but an extra boost couldn't hurt.

the only place in the world AI would actually flourish right now is NY.
thats the one city where he'd be given the ball and asked to score, nothing else.

i dont see why they havent jumped on him yet.

I hope Memphis didn't have to pay him much of his contract.
