According to Phil Jasner of the Philadelphia News, the Clippers have been in contact with Iguodala after coach Mike Dunleavy pushed for the talented small forward.

"We're not going to hide, but we're not going to publicize it each time we make contact with a player we think could help us," Dunleavy added. "We're trying to figure out the best way to get people to come, who to go with, who would be the best fit."

The Clippers have already met with Josh Smith from the Hawks.

Both Smith and Iguodala are restricted free agents, giving Atlanta and Philadelphia the opportunity to match any offer sheet that either player signs with another team.

The Clippers have about $12 million in salary-cap space after losing Brand and Corey Maggette. They have already signed Baron Davis this off season.

SCORCHED EARTH!

Wouldn't make much sense for the Clips long term and contractually (To outbid Philly you're gonna have to way overpay Iggy, while Okafor won't be as difficult and big men usually get contracts that high anyways)

I'd be interesting though if they could sign Iggy and do something like Randolph for Mobley and Tim Thomas. I still think Randolph would fuck them up but if somehow he turned the corner, that'd be an interesting team. Baron/Iggy/Thornton/Randolph/Kaman, with Gordon off the bench.

But I'd love to see this anyways as a giant fuck you to Elton Brand

Okay first of all, ew

Second of all LAC has $12 million left. How much are they possibly gonna need to outbid Philly who has less right now?

They'll need all of it.

Cap room doesn't come into play when re-signing a player if I'm not mistaken.

Philly can pay him as much as they want, and as such, LAC will have to overpay significantly to get him.

Philly's acquisition of Brand hinges on Iguodala being in the fold. LA would have a much better chance at going after Josh Smith.
