If you could pick one player, who would it be?

I was having an arguement with a co-worker the other day about who the best player in the league was... at this given point in time.
And we ended up with a sure fire way to solve this, without worrying about age, health, potential, etc.

heres the rules...

if you had ONE year to win a championship, and could select any one player to play for you, who would not get injured and play 82 games. who would you pick? and why?

as much as hate hate him
I would take Kobe Bryant
because he is always giving 100% effort in every game
he is good defensevely
he is a vocal leader
and he is the clutchest player in the league

Lebron - has what Kobe has, plus size and power

Stonezz 06-02-2010 04:29 PM

Kobe. Plays through injuries, can do everything on the court. Doesnt have LeBron's size or strength but he makes up for it by being the clutchest player in the NBA.

roid roid

right now.. Kobe, just because he's more proven. although he's in his 30's now he still plays like he's 20. If i were to choose one for the raptors, i'd give it to lebron because of his all around game fits the raptors well.

Highly debateable. In a lot of ways LeBron is predictable on offense. Like you said it's tough to stop him on consistent basis because he does have that size and power but he really doesn't have a plethora of moves to rely on so it's possible to take him away from certain aspects of his game.

Kobe keeps you guessing on defense. It's tough to know what he's doing on any one possession because he has so many different moves and release points.

Having said all that this isn't a Kobe vs. LeBron debate (not yet at least) so I'll just say Kobe for now.

For right now Kobe Bryant! I hate him, but the guy is the most driven player in the league.

Kobe
Leader. Great shot. Clutch

GrannyFro 06-02-2010 04:39 PM

kobe is more proven, but lebron to me is the more complete player, hes the big PG that can get 30 a game like kobe but also has vision on the court that kobe will never have. I think lebron contributes in more areas all around then kobe does. Yeah kobes clutch but his ridiculously good supporting casts help carry him to those clutch moment.

Shifty.py 06-02-2010 04:41 PM

DWade
single handedly carrying 15win team to playoffs. Repeatedly.
Better personality than Kobe
Smarter than Lebron

jakapono24 06-02-2010 04:42 PM

Deron Williams. I'm of the belief that point guards are the most important part of a team. And a great point guard makes a bad team good.

I wouldn't mind Chris Paul either, but to be honest he's lost a lot of value after that blowout playoff game 2 years ago where he scored 4 points, then last season was injured for most of the year. If you compare Utah's talent to New Orleans' I think we'd all agree that David West, Peja, Emeka, and their role players are better than the Jazz.

Oh oh, I'd also take Dwight, because I love his defensive ability/potential. If you gave me any 2 players in the league, without a doubt it would be Chris Paul and Dwight. But if it's just one, to make my team better, Deron Williams.

Aamir 06-02-2010 04:53 PM

Lebrons a walking triple double(well pretty close)

Matt443 06-02-2010 05:05 PM

Kobe simply because it FREAKIN KOBE!!!!!!

Ball Don't Lie 06-02-2010 05:26 PM

Lebron, and get him a coach that knows how to run an offence besides side pick and roll every play and hes 100% the most unstoppable force in NBA history

Gurk 06-02-2010 05:44 PM
