I was thinking...

The more I look at it, from top to bottom, wow, the Lakers look like the best team I have ever seen in my lifetime.

How the hell, come post season, do you stop this Squad.

I'm loving it.

ClutchCity 09-25-2012 05:39 PM

I'm so excited for next season.

d00little 09-25-2012 05:49 PM

They look real good. 4 hall of famers playing at a high level, plus word is the Metta has come into training camp 15 pounds lighter than last year.

They had the worst bench in the league last year (scoring) and were still a top 10 offense due to their starting lineup. Now they've upgraded their starting lineup at 2 positions and have Antawn Jamison and Jodie Meeks for scoring off the bench.

People say Kobe will have trouble playing off the ball, but I don't know. He seems fine letting the point guards run the offense when he plays on Team USA or All-Star games.

Superjudge 09-25-2012 05:53 PM

You should be. The offensive scenario's are mind boggling. Honestly. Maybe Blake and that other stiff back up are an issue...but even then, they only need to hold the fort.

they ALWAYS have a player or two that will carve the shit out of single coverage, its uncanny. Wanna go single on Howard..go ahead..HA! Pau, HA! but hey, if you decide you're tired of getting pumped in the post, that cool, double, even for a moment, leave Nash at the top open, dead, leave Koboe on teh wing, dead, leave Meeks when Kobe sits, dead, well fuck, we rotated like mad and closed out Kobe, he drives, step up, dish to big, dead, he drives on single, dunks , dead, yo9u collapse... oh just Artest in the corner to hit the one shot he can all day long when open...dead.

Guess that leaves single coverage and let the PG do what h can...hahaha ever seen Nash on the Suns....hmm...with shittier players...again, dead.

You cannot stop them. It's impossible.

Oh yeah, defence..... well, Howard is the best ever in his position there, three time reigning DPOY and a beast...guess getting by Kobe or Nash isn't as muchj of a good time anymore...then there's artest...oh yeah, Pau can defend and is 7 foot, and hey, there is always Kobe when motivated.... and of course you have Nash...who may not be fast, but is absolutely the smartest player in the league, and will have a field day leading guys into no win scenarios off the dribble.

Honestly, I want league pass just for them.

jeffb 09-25-2012 05:57 PM

Nash
Bryant
MWP
Gasol
Howard

Just get NBATV and TSN2. Between the two you'll see many LAL games that's a guarantee. TSN has 3-4 games per week and NBATV has games on 5-6 nights per week and they only show the top teams for the most part. The Lakers will be plastered all over those two channels.

I know the season hasn't started yet but I can't wait for LA vs MIA in the finals, gonna be an unreal series.

HOF's playing against HOF's...both are going to clash in the finals and I agree with SJ and CC, on paper there is absolutely no way any team, including the Heat, that can beat the Lakers. There just isn't - good thing they still have to play the games........and that's not sarcasm - imo it's the only reason for hope that other teams have.

Edit....you think Riley wants to take back what he said about not needing a center? Of course that was pre Howard trade....since then, Miami's been on a mission. I wanna see LBJ guard D12

KoolAid 09-25-2012 07:36 PM

Out of the west IMO only OKC has a chance at stopping them...only because they match up decently.

Westbrook can blow by Nash at 38(?) years old.
Thabo and Harden can hope to contain kobe somewhat
Durant > MWP
Pau > Ibaka
And imo the only one who has a chance to contain Dwight is Perkins.

INSIDER 09-25-2012 07:43 PM

their starting lineup is fantastic... untouchable at each position... and then having Jamison and Meeks on the bench?!!?
yikes. this team is scary good.

Nites 09-25-2012 08:20 PM

People are counting out the Spurs. I believe the Spurs will upset the Lakers this year.

bjjs 09-25-2012 08:35 PM

Sj with the complete 180 from "No parity ruining the league" to "sign me up for league pass!!".

I can't wait - going to be some great basketball.

OKC/LAL is a toss up imo

Westbrooks youth in the back court could be the difference against Kobe & Nash

Torontosaurus 09-25-2012 08:35 PM

They do look unstoppable. But then so did that team that added Karl Malone and Gary Payton together with Kobe and Shaq and coached by Phil. Guess that's why I love this game cause you never know how the variables (injuries, chemistry/team dynamics, matchups, controversies, egos) will stack up.

Aamir 09-25-2012 08:51 PM

The only thing to be concered about is injuries. Old as hell.

I don't see that happening. The Lakers are better at nearly every position. In the playoffs, when rotations become tighter, the Lakers will always have at least 2 of the big 4 on at all times. I don't see the Spurs keeping up.

Who's the Spurs center again? LOL.

Not many ever count them out, but i don't see them getting past OKC, let alone LAL.

Malone was injured and Payton was a horrific fit in the triangle. Still, if healthy, that team would have won it all.

I think if this Lakers team is healthy, they win it all.

Lakers seem stronger at every position, but the team play, chemistry and coaching of the spurs will be very strong. It might take a while for this LA all star team to develop chemistry. Personally, I think by the end of the year it will good, but there may be some bumps in the beginning.

No doubt it will take time. But there's one reason I believe the chemistry won't be a problem: Steve Nash.
