How do we get OKC to trade Westbrook & Ibaka 4 Dwight Howard?

I wrote this in another thread -Boston's big 3 were put together and only won one championship. Although Miami is younger...I'm hoping for the same fate!

Same thing next year: Favourite team is the Raptors, second favourite is the Thunder and my third favourite is whoever is playing the Heat

Don't fret...

Once Dallas gets Deron and somehow scams D12 from Orlando, Miami and OKC will be shitting bricks.

Yeah, problem is that Brooklyn can't trade for him cause they have nothing to give. I suspect D12 will get traded somewhere as a 1 year rental then either get dealt before the deadline or sign in the offseason.

The aim should be to look for a trade of Bosh or Wade for Howard. Howard's not going to win a title any time soon.

Orlando would probably want both Bosh and Wade.

I'll tell you something tho...if they traded Bosh for Dwight, Wade + LeBron + Dwight = possibly the best defensive team EVER.

Wow...no one would score against that team.

I hope it doesn't happen

Bosh is a better defender than Wade right now. And offensively they would take a big step backwards and would need to figure out way too much chemistry all over again. Not to mention that there's no telling what shit h might try to pull when the first losing streak comes along. Anyone who hates Lebron should dream of such a scenario. I'm not even sure the heat would improve that much defensively. Again it would mean a big shift. They like to be able to make a lot switches and never see a mismatch. Howard can get caught in mismatches quite easily, and can't always be trusted to get back in transition. The Thunder would love to see Kendrick Perkins look like he has a decent matchup.

Doesn't matter. Dwight is the best defensive player in the league. It doesn't matter who is at PF. Dwight > Bosh + whoever (if we're talking about defence). Wade would be a solid defensive fit next to Dwight and LeBron because of his ability to block shots better than any SG in the history of the league. He can protect the rim and the dude is 6' 4". Dwight would erase any defensive mistake made and LeBron is LeBron.

Anyways, I see your point about offence and I agree. However, I was talking about nothing but defence. Wade + LeBron had a hard time to play optimally together. Dwight clogging the lane would only make that worse. I realize that.

You can bet your ass teams would LOVE to be able to foul Howard down the stretch of games too.

Agreed though. Offensively it'd be a disaster. MIA needs a big man who can step out and draw opposing shotblockers away from the basket. Wade and Lebron thrive off of this. It's basically why they beat BOS in those last 2 games and won the series. Helped a great deal vs. OKC too. And Bosh's P & R defense is far better than Howard's will ever be. I don't think that would have been able to step out on the perimeter and contest Durant.

Dwight is the best defensive player in the league, at times. At other times his weak mentality and poor leadership abilities leaves him looking pretty average. Not everyone is going to play into his strengths, and it's not that hard to neutralize those strengths. He can't erase mistakes if he's being pulled away from the basket, or abused in transition, or standing under the basket while threes get fired up. The Heat are particularly great at getting back in transition and not suffering from mismatches, either in transition or through picks. When Bosh was out, and when he was used conservatively in his first few games back, that is where they really suffered. Wade looked terrible. Howard wouldn't be a great deal of help with that.

Don't get me wrong now - they'd have a great defense potentially. But not likely all that much better than what's there now.
