It was about, and likely still is, the Nets looking to grab Howard. They need to Jack Hump up just in case he can be used as part of a trade should it happen. Basically Hump is benefiting from the Howard demand, even better, Hump and Howard share an agent, so, the agent is likely driving it all whether there is any trad imminent or not.

the amount of money doesn't really matter for teams willing to spend. the length of the contract is what ruins the teams flexibility. if he doesn't play like a $12 mil PF next season they can trade him as an expiring
