Funnily enough, Brooklyn also got Reggie Evans in the offseason, who's arguably a better rebounder than Humphries (although nowhere near as dependable/durable of late).

Humphries has developed into a fantastic rebounder (tied for 4th in the League overall, or tied for 9th overall in RP48 - (arguably a more reliable stat) for guys who play 20+ mins per game. Who would have thought that he would be capable of scoring 14ppg last season (on a lottery team, natch) -- when he played for us he was an offensive black hole who couldn't find the bucket with a map!

No question that Hump is overpaid (probably wildly so), and his gaudy stats should drop this season, but he's young, healthy, motivated, and smartly is only on a 2 year contract, so he won't become an albatross. 2 years, or as Kim Kardashian calls it - 10 marriages (@ 72 days per marriage).
---------

Fun fact: Brooklyn is paying $62 million dollars next season for for: Joe Johnson, Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries. That's more than the Raptors' payroll btw! Add Gerald Wallace to that mix (5 guys) and the total is $71.5 million! That's a prety solid starting 5 but they've got virtually no bench!

Humphries is basically getting the same money that Lowry, Valanciunas and Terence Ross are making next season - combined!

The black hole idea is nonsense. He took his shots within the flow of the offense. Internet fans wanted him to give the ball to Bargnani and Jose and moaned any time he made the right play which was quite often taking the open shot or taking his man in space. He was a solid player in TO but had to play behind Bosh and Bargs - there wasn't the opportunity for him here.

Hump was also raw as hell when he was a Raptor; it wasn't just a lack of opportunity.

He showed great promise as a banger and rebounder, but people forget he was drafted when he was only 18 or 19, spent 2 years on Utah's bench and then 3 years in Toronto where he actually didn't play any more minutes than in Utah but did seem to develop his game as a player, filled out and became even buffer.

Right now Hump is in his absolute prime as a player - 27 years old, which usually the peak for a hustler/banger type of player. He's defined his game (rebounder/garbage scorer) and does something better than most of the league (rebound). In Toronto he was still a raw piece of clay. Toronto of a few years ago could have used the Humphries of today.

Even Mitchell said he became more effective in NJ by learning to stop chucking and focus on rebounding.
