Dwight Howard wanted end to Kobe Bryant era with Los Angeles Lakers - ESPN Los Angeles

Lol ... Way to be a bigger douchebag than anyone imagined. Just get rid of everyone that was an allstar with no regard for them, hire Phil Jackson and get Chris Paul and it's all good enough for Dwight. Just lol...

This story worked like a charm. Now the hateful Laker fans can boo Dwight Howard. Maybe even throw some things at him. You know, because it's HIS fault why the Lakers might not make the playoffs.

If the Lakers meet Houston in the first round I hope the Lakers sweep them. I hate the Lakers more then I hate the Heat btw.

yeah. i think at this point ESPN could make up whatever bullshit story about Dwight they want and it would be believable just because...well, it's Dwight. Who even knows if it's true.

I suppose he couldn't learn anything from Kobe Bryant or Steve Nash...Pau....nah. Dight Howard is a bog guy, and a huge presence in the paint, but you don't win in Basketball, any other sport, or life on talent alone. Character is arguably more important.

Its sad really, sad for the fans and his potential teammates.

Kobe's comment made me chuckle. What a dick Kobe must be as a teammate.

Quote:
"I think everybody is cut differently," Bryant said. "[Howard] has his way of leading that he feels like would be most effective and would work for him, and obviously the way we've gone about it with this organization and the leaders that we've had -- myself, Magic [Johnson] and Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] -- we've done it a different way."

Exactly..he said Kobe never offered to teach him how to win a championship/be a champion..if he had any heart he would've learned and absorbed what he could've from Bryant when he took his only chance at getting a ring away from him(in the Finals a few years back).

Personally I think it's easier to deal with having a soft, dumb guy like howard in the locker-room than it is to have an overly intense and demanding guy like bryant. With howard you create that winning vibe and just don't let him mess with it. With bryant if you don't live up to his standards there's immediately problems and the rifts start. Even jordan and phil jackson realised this and jordan softened a bit.

Just out of curiosity, has there ever been a player/GM before? Does Jordan count?

player/coach, GM/coach but not GM/Player <----what a scary thought! Although CP3 seems to be doing a good job

Posters are funny, never win a title lol. Howard and the red machine are going to man handle the West and I hope he throttles Kobe.

Kobe's a f'kn douche, Howard isn't the only all star big he's managed to alienate - just happened faster. Hopefully they met in the playoffs soon and the Rockets smack them in 4 straight.

You cannot have someone that thinks they are the shizza, the leader and all that be a terrible leader. It leads to complacency and stagnation. And Howard is not a leader. Period... he just thinks he is and he never leads. I would take Kobe even ta his age now in a second.

Vince Carter and Chris Bosh tried it out for a while.

Kobe is an NBA Champion.. he can say what ever he wants, Howard talks to much for a guy who hasn't won anything.. he got exposed, last season I saw what kind of player he really is

funny how back in 2010 the frontrunners of who would be the face of the NBA was either going to be howard and lebron because both were unstoppable. carrying franchises to new heights and both had that likable but threatening vibe to them when they stepped onto the court. now that both of them had similar experiences on pressure and ridiculously high expectations from the world we all know who clearly met the challenge and who decided to back down and make excuses.

as much as i dont believe this article, i still think howard wanted to be loved and that was the reason for his downfall. while lebron stopped caring about people's opinions and understood opinions change once you have the merchandise.
