Magic Howard has asked Magic to get Steve Nash

Quote:
The Orlando Magic has made offers for Nash in the past and sources close to the situation say that they’ll attempt to acquire the 16-year veteran in the next two weeks. Dwight Howard has asked the front office to pursue Nash and sources close to Howard believe he won’t exercise his early termination option if the team is able to acquire Nash and re-sign him this summer.

by the balls. i'd look to deal howard the first chance i got if he was indeed making demands in order for him to not pick up his player option.

i wonder if he's considered the fact that nash is an upcoming free agent this year and the assets they'd be giving up for him would leave him in no better shape.

shut up, don't pick-up your option and recruit nash in the summer. any other way that this is approached is the wrong way.

i actually feel bad for Orlando right now.
Howard is pretty much holding the Franchise by the balls right now and threatening them with his re-signing.
for a player to have so much power is unbelievable. Learn from Denver, trade his ass for some value and send him packing.

God, Howard's acting like a spoiled 5 year old trying to get a new toy. I thought players worked for their franchises, not the other around.

its just an extremely tough spot for a GM... you want to keep your star happy, but you put the future of your franchise in jeopardy.
you trade away assets to get Nash (which would probably be future draft picks, Anderson, Reddick, or any combo) and then lose in the 1st or second round - because lets face it, even with Nash, Orlando isnt beating Miami or Chicago. then summer comes, and D12 bolts, Nash bolts, and your franchise is stuck with no assets, no picks, no future.
they're better off unloading him ASAP. I hate these high profile players with this much power.

Nash for Darren Collison. Indy has the capspace to do it, need a much better facilitator, they have the depth. PHX gets a point guard back, don't have to take on additional salary. Nash, George, Granger, West, Hibbert - not bad at all. + could PHX arguably get more in a trade? little salary and a young player. Let's say something crazy happened and Ainge makes an offer of Rondo for Nash, Sarver would say no to that, too much $.

fair enough. but, what other deals are fair + work? Nelson+Orton+ first rounder for Nash? Felton + one of (Armon Johnson, E.Williams, N.Smith, L.Babbitt)+ maybe a first rounder for nash? how about collison+ a first rounder (maybe conditional, although they are saving PHX a mountain in salary already).

At least he didn't do what Bosh or LBJ did.

Kobe did it in LA, they got him Pau, and trophies.

MJ did it in Chicago, they always grabbed him what he asked for, he won trophies.

It sucks, but works.

But I hear ya man, I think the issue isn't that the demand is there, it's that the agents make it public as part of their tactics. Its terrible for the teams.

Seriously! LOL!

Anyone who thinks that CP3 and D12 wouldn't have done the same thing as Bron/Wade/Bosh if they were able to is crazy.

I thought the Bulls owner didn't listen to all of MJ's demands (on specific players) and thats why they were so successful. As you can see now MJ is not a great GM or owner.

no, lied to their fans about intentions (and possibly to their employer as well), and colluded with other players about where they might play before their current contracts were up.
