Magic Howard disgusted with the Magic, will demand trade after the season

Should have traded his ass a couple months ago. Magic look like a bunch of morons.

Quote:
Just when you thought that all of the Dwight Howard drama was over, it starts up once again. Recently reports started to swirl that Howard has asked for Orlando Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy to be fired, Howard refuted the reports and a similar report came out stating that Howard never asked for Van Gundy to be fired, rather it was Orlando’s front office that did. But apparently, regardless of whether Van Gundy is gone next season, Howard does not want to be a part of the Magic any longer.

On SportsCenter on Saturday Stephen A. Smith came on and laid out the future, according to his sources, of Dwight Howard. Here is the quote from Stephen A., “The minute this season is over, according to what I am hearing from his camp, you can expect Dwight Howard to* tell Orlando.* ‘Get me out of here.*I don’t want to be here any longer…*When he had his back surgery,*they were talking about giving him a flight on AirTran*or something like that.* This is the kind of stuff that I’ve been told in the last 24 hours in terms of how they’ve treated him.* He feels as a superstar, he’s been treated as a scrub.”

If Stephen A.’s sources are correct, pertaining to the type of flight that the Magic wanted to give Howard, then it would not be a surprise at all to me if Howard did in fact request a trade this off-season. Heading into the NBA trade deadline it seemed as though Howard was not committed to the Magic at all, but rather his own desires. Howard’s teammates have also not exactly come to his defense which may be a telling sign of whose side they are really on.

As things stand right now all signs seem to be pointing to the fact that Howard, regardless of whether or not he truly asks for a trade this off-season, will not be in Orlando past next season’s trade deadline. Assuming Howard does get traded, the three teams originally on his list, the New jersey Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks*would seem to be the top destinations. But a recent report came out stating that Howard signed with the Magic simply to avoid a trade to the Lakers. If this report is indeed true then it would seem that the Lakers could automatically be eliminated from Howard’s possible destinations.

If, and when Howard is traded, and as of right now all signs are pointing to it just being a matter of time, then the likely destination is the New jersey Nets. Both Howard and Deron Williams**are good friends and have wanted to play with each other for a while now. Going to the Nets would ensure that Howard would be happy with his current team, and on a team with a real chance at making some noise in the playoffs.

The way this guy was flip flopping all year, this comes as no surprise. I have no clue why the magic didn't do everything they could to trade him at the deadline. Did they really think he was going to re-sign?
An is it just me or has this guy lost all the likability he ever had? I don't know anyone who likes this guy anymore.

I never understood what was ever likeable about him. He's underachieved and smiled about it from day one. There's no doubt that he can dominate in some aspects, but he rarely rises to challenges like a guy that size and with that much athleticism should.

The Magic are like the Hornets with the best Center in the league. He just wants to win it all. He needs a new home, and at least one other quality player to share the work load.

It's not really all that clear what he wants though. And he needs to be accountable and make some real improvements in his own game as much as anything.

It's going to be hard to trade him in the offseason. But hopefully it happens, as this has dragged on way too long.

More of an attention whore than LBJ since wanting to leave their team for another

We also give up Jonas Valanciunas.

Howard signs here long term once we ink Batum and D Will.

JV isn't going anywhere and Dwight's surgery would likely kill his career if he got traded here!

I usually am not the one to hate/boo players but I hope he does get boo'd everywhere he goes. I also feel sorry for the fanbase of his new team cause they'll become hated for just having Dwight on their roster

I believe he opted into the player option he had for the 2012-2013 season. So he'll be a free agent next Summer.

My question is, knowing that D12 wants out no matter what, what kind of return can the Magic be looking at?

They surely have no incentive to trade him to a team that offers a weak package...at the same time, most team would be skeptical in acquiring him without the guarantee that he'll re-up.

Cuban needs to find a way to get that crybaby in Dallas once we sign Deron...

its going to be almost impossible to trade this guy next season.
he'll give his list of teams: LA, NY, NJ.
and those teams, knowing they have the power will lowball.

every other team that has decent trade pieces wont even bother getting in the talks because its pointless renting D12 for a year (and giving away value for a one year rental), and have him bolt after the season.

D12 is a spoiled brat... i dont see many GM's wanting to rent this guy for a year, only to have him bolt. I'm assuming the LA's and NY's will have him sign a contract extension as the kicker.
