How stupid is Memphis...

Why the hell would you get allen iverson if you're gonna sit his ass on the bench? That clearly doesn't go down well with him...This is gonna turn into the same crap as with detroit last year.

Someguy again 11-03-2009 05:14 PM

He knows he's a dominant scorer and placing him on a lineup full of scorers will not help.

gabe91 11-03-2009 05:15 PM

I think we should've got him. I think he's capable of being that superstar....he just needs a frickin chance.

Ligeia 11-03-2009 05:19 PM

It's an awkward situation, to be sure. Conley runs the point the best out of anyone on the team; Mayo can score well enough that he should be starting, and needs to play to continue to develop his game if he will become the future face of the franchise. The only place Iverson fits, in my opinion, is coming off the bench, but he's clearly against that idea. What a mess.

NOOOOOOOO! These talented me-first stars are finally on their way out of the league. Marbury, Zach Randolph, TJ Ford (to a lesser extent).

They all grew up watching MJ and wanting to be "The Man". They all figure they can be the guy that carries a team to the promised land. What they forget is that MJ had Pippen and a host of other role players he kept involved. And he had that awesome illegal defense rule allowing non-stop one on ones...but I digress.

AI had years worth of chances in Philly. Starbury also had his share of chances and they always proved that they think they are the the only good player on the floor.

It's by no mistake that team guys like Garnett and Billups and Duncan and "The New" Kobe are winning championships.

The sooner these cancers are gone, the better.

Give me a friggin' break man. Did you just lump TJ in with Zach and Marbury? TJ is a good teammate off the court and a good teammate on the court. He takes less than ten shots a game. To a lesser extent?... To no extent is more like it..

Damn straight.

sixel 11-03-2009 06:12 PM

the move that was the stupidiest was when they drafted Thabeet

m5racer 11-03-2009 06:40 PM

Last year when AI was traded to Detroit I remeber BC talkign about how he would never get a classless head case like AI on this team.

lonewolfpoet 11-03-2009 07:04 PM

How stupid is Memphis? Not dumb enought to lose against the Raptors, enough said.

I'll agree that he doesnt have the talent to be bunched with those guys. You do remember his suck attack that basically derailed our season three years ago? And Me-J hogging the ball down the stretch to show his displeasure?

Now he is on the bench on a crappy team....JUST like AI!!

Agreed, another PG like Jennings or Flynn on that team to backup conley would make memphis stacked.

But then again they needed another big man since Warrick left.

Ball Don't Lie 11-03-2009 11:21 PM

Thabeet actually impressed me with his shot blocking in the DEN game

Anyway, like I said, MEM has a LOT of really good young talented players, but the pieces dont fit. Why they brought in Iverson to back up two positions where their starters play 32+mpg made no sense. Combined wit hthe fact they already had 3 ball dependant players on their team. But so go the Grizz. Conley Mayo Gay and Gasol deserve better

pigspigs76 11-03-2009 11:23 PM

hey remember when we were good???

ahhaha

Bill Haverchuck 11-03-2009 11:42 PM

Did I miss something? I mean, didn't Memphis management/ownership meet with Iverson and talk about things before he decided to sign on with the Grizz? Is this similar to the Andre Miller situation? Or is Iverson so delusional that he actually thought they'd start him ahead of Mayo? Maybe he expected to play the point?
