OK buddy.
I don't know nor care what True Shooting means.

The guy will always be labelled as someone who never really gave it their all and just got by. Good for him.

I am glad to see that both T-Mac and VC will end their careers likely not winning any championships. They deserve it.

True shooting is the percentage of ever shot. Every Fg, every 3, every FT.

So if I shot 3/4 fg, and 1/2 3, and 4/6 from ft my TS% would be 66%. (8/12)

No, that's not what true shooting percentage is. True shooting percentage is a measure of overall scoring efficiency. The formula in no way even remotely resembles your formula. I'm curious as to where you got your formula from.

I'd say VC last 3 more seasons. If the lockout occurs I only see him playing the season after the lockout then retiring.

Yeah, VC was so awesome. Or was he?

VC owes Richard Jefferson an enormous debt of gratitude, otherwise people might be talking about how the Raps came back and embarrassed the Nets. And no, I'm not just referring to the steal Jefferson made in game 6 (that's only part of it), which, by the way, was a very close game, and suggests that the series was not over after game 4. It was still up for grabs.

I noticed you like shooting percentages.

Game 1

Carter shot 5/19 (.263fg%) - Nets win becase Jefferson plays really well.

Ouch!

Game 2

Carter shot 8/24 (.333fg%)

Yikes!

Game 5

Carter shot okay, but he choked on some big shots and free throws (6/10 on FTs) in a game that the Raps won by 2 points. He failed to close the deal.

Game 6

Carter shot 6/19 (.316%)

Zoinks! *shaggy from scooby doo voice*

Fortunately for the Nets Jefferson stole that pass and showed up consistently throughout the series.

Oh, and it doesn't end there. You cited 2006-2007 as some great season by Carter, yet, in typical VC fashion, he choked when it mattered.

His shooting stats against Cleveland are....well, judge for yourself. He consistenly jacked jumper after jumper in the first 2 games. I remember watching that series from a hotel room in Saskatoon. It was ugly as fuck.

Game 1

7/23 (.304 fg%)

LMAO!

Game 2

10/26 (.385 fg%)

meh, little better

Game 3

8/19 (.421 fg%)

he broke .400! hurray!

Game 4

6/23 (.261 fg%)

pffffffftttttttt

Game 5

5/11 Holy shit! It's miracle! He can shoot! Too bad he only scored 12 points.

Game 6

4/11 (.364 fg%) and 11 points in the Nets most important game of the year.

He couldn't even shoot above .400 for consecutive games against the Cavs. Just ugly.

See, I will never deny Carter's talent, but, around the time period that 'trane mentioned, Carter never did much when it mattered. He was terribly inconsistent, and he had an ability to frustrate the hell out of people by dissapearing in important games, or just flat out choking.

Even last year, when he had a shit load of talent around him and didn't have to take on too big of a role, he choked when it mattered. I'd say that's the bigger criticism of VC. Fuck the stats. The eye test says he wasn't trying a lot of the time. But what's worse, is that he RARELY played his best when it mattered. He'd have a couple of huge games mixed in with a bunch of shit. Rarely did he rise to the challenge.

ROFLMAO @ 12-14 second mark.

I said he shit on the Raptors in games 3 and 4. Yet your long-winded rebuttal conveniently left those games out. You also left out the fact that he averaged 25/6/4 on solid shooting percentages for the series as a whole. I'm not even sure why you're quoting what I said a week ago, but whatever.

He did? In Game 2 Jefferson shot 4-16 FG.

I was granting that he played well in those games. There is a difference between granting a point and purposely leaving it out; don't confuse the two.

In fact, I said this:

When your team is trying to win 4 games out of 7, the individual performances on a game by game basis matter more than what can be masked by the stats of a whole small sample (like terrible shooting performances in 3 important games).

And I love how you made no attempt to defend the shooting during the Cleveland series, even though you talked about how great his 2006-2007 season was. Yeah, and he fucked up when it mattered.

My bad; I thought the thread was only a day or two old. I saw it near the top of the NBA section.

But that's where the apology ends.

5 out of 6 games is pretty consistent.
