Hornets waive Rashard Lewis

No surprise....

The Hornets have waived Rashard Lewis.

The buyout of Lewis is for $14 million, but the Hornets receive approximately $9 million in savings.

14 mil in his pocket......which team will he go to...Spurs, Lakers, Boston, Miami, is there another?

Dario 06-30-2012 08:46 PM

C's look like a good fit, that dude has a big cheque comin in.

So does Miami since Lewis can play both foward positions. He and LBJ can switch off - could be pretty scary if Lewis stays healthy. Sign Ray and then Lewis for the vet minimum. Can you imagine both stretching the floor with their 3's? Miami can throw a line of Ray, Wade, LBJ, Lewis, Bosh :mischief:

It would be a Seattle reunion for Ray and Rashard again. Ray was Rashard's mentor.

Guys, Rashard Lewis has been a ghost of himself going on three years now. If you want to talk about a player who could play the 3/4 and is a known scorer who wouldn't be that hard to acquire it would be Antawn Jamison. :cookie:

I would be to playing in Washington :cookie:

I think it's more about Lewis already getting 14 mil this year, takes the money out of the equation when going to another team. Also allows him to play into another contract. Antawn though but be great but most likely out of the Heats price range.

Gotta agree with metallikid on this one. Lewis is horrible. Does his name still have enough clout to get him by? This isn't 4 years ago. He's been awful for the past 3 years culminating in a horrendous last year. The vet min is too much to give to this guy.

I disagree. Lewis is an emotional guy and let's be honest, I'd struggle going to the gong show in Washington - listening to Blatche, the dysfunction, players running over coaches. Sometimes people seem to disregard a payer to quickly. For a player with his resume that I barely have to pay, no brainer to me. Jamison is also out of Miamis price range or I would 100% agree with Metallikid - though I do on premise.

So your excuse for him is that he wasn't happy playing for a shit team in Washington? The guy was being paid one of the largest salaries in the league, but somehow isn't playing well because of who he's playing with? If that his excuse then he isn't worth shit. And hes someone I'd never want to see in a raps uni. And if that's the case, what was his excuse in Orlando for sucking? Over his last 3 years hes put up around 9 ppg while shooting about 40%. While getting paid more than 99% of his peers. Again, here's a guy that's getting by on name alone.

DocHoliday99 07-01-2012 03:11 PM

No excuses. Why when someone looks at the whole picture they're making excuses. These guys a still human beings not robots, they'll make mistakes and suffer emotional ups/downs like you and me. Besides, if you read what I wrote the reality comes down to cost and paying Lewis next to nothing than a player that is most likely out of the Heats price range makes complete sense. Was Lewis over paid yep but them days are gone.

I think the heat can do better than a 33 year old who put up 7points on 38% and 23% on 3s last season. But that's just me.
T this point in their careers I'd say James jones is his equal. Or maybe even better.

Ouch - James Jones? No no. I would bet you see a resurgence in Lewis this coming year.

To me though, Miami goes all out for Ray Ray and will grab Caldy when he's amnestied. I'm gonna miss Caldy - he moves off the ball well and is a career 38% 3pt shooter. Would work well on the Heat or LaLaLand.

INSIDER 07-01-2012 05:31 PM

I think calderon in LA would be the best fit. I'd be happy for him too.
