I wouldn't care what their roster looked like, just bring it back. As is, we know a majority of the roster (ex raptors) have no gripe about playing in Canada.

I wouldn't want to maintain the Hornets label though. I'd much prefer the Vancouver Chong Li's.

Or something a little more native to Vancouver, I guess.

14,000? yah they're lucky if they get 7,000. I hope the NBA doesn't have N.O. on their cut list of teams after next year's strike. It's a great city, it's residents are sweethearts, and it's literally been through hell these last 5 years with the super storm Katrina and the BP oil disaster. Man, start givin' tickets to charity or like half-off everything Tuesdays, get folks going to games again.

It's more than likely that Chris Paul will bail the first chance he gets.

Plus, I'm sure we could dig up the old Vancouver Grizzlies equipment from the basement of GM Place.

Shinn's been trying to unload this team onto a local NO businessman. If the sale went through he probably would not want to relocate.

You are wrong...

Montreal can & will only have one team in there city & it's well known the the Habs are that team.

Every other team has been shipped out!

The Nordiques gone!
The Expos gone!

I don't see the
Alouettes staying long or the Impact for that matter!

Montreal fans only care about there Habs period!

You'd be surprised lol, I remember reading an article saying how Quebec was ready to have a NBA basketball team. People there actually want a basketball team. Vancouver and Montreal!

Vancouver Vipers and Vancouver Venoms sound sick! Vancouver Vikings sounds good too
Montreal? Only thing that comes to mind is Montreal Monsters and Monkeys. Can't really think of a good one :S

Default Montreal

move them to montreal the fans there proved they are passionate when the raps played there and there is a ton of young canadian talent coming out of montreal, ie. kris joseph, kemy osse, khem birch olivier hanlan, not to mention joel anthony, samuel dalembert ....

I think they need a team in the westcoast first before they go to montreal, but if a owner steps up in montreal goes and buys a team I'm sure there won't be any complaints

it would be great for T.V, you would have the raps on at 4pm and at 7pm you got another team to watch, I'm sure those hardcore hoopsters would stay up to watch the first couple of quarters if there bored that day

also it would be a way for people in the East to see more West teams if it peaks there interest

I really doubt that montreal is even on the radar right now, not that im hating but Montreal just has a bad track record for keeping there teams other than the Habs.

The NBA is weighing whether to buy the New Orleans Hornets from longtime owner George Shinn to have greater control over the permanent sale of the franchise, according to sources with knowledge of the league's thinking.

Two sources likened the NBA's potential involvement to Major League Baseball's purchase of the Montreal Expos before the team was ultimately sold and moved to the nation's capital as the Washington Nationals in 2005.

It's believed, though, that the NBA's intent -- if it goes through with buying the Hornets -- would be to try to secure a buyer willing and able to keep the franchise in New Orleans now that Shinn's anticipated sale to minority partner Gary Chouest has apparently collapsed.

The Montreal fans impressed me in that exhibition game against NYK. Very knowledgeable. People in Toronto and outside of Quebec in general don't realize that basketball has a pretty decent following in that province. Good high school teams, good university teams, Bill Wennington. The best basketball player I've ever played with grew up in Montreal.

You know that the Nordiques were based in Quebec City right?

Montreal is a GREAT sports town. Always has been. Their passion is unmatched.

That being said, they're not as forgiving as T.O. fans.... so you can't put a shit product on the floor/field for years upon years and expect the place to be packed.

Hell, the Impact have a HUGE following and very loyal.

The only the reason the Expos left is b/c of poor ownership and the MLB having their lack of a salary cap system.

Had they built that Labatt's park they'd still be playing there and likely have won at least a championship by now. Hell, if they won that championship in 94 god knows what would have happened.

It's a good sports city.

NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Hornets owner George Shinn has agreed to sell the club to the NBA and the transaction could be completed within a couple days, according to a person familiar with the decision.

The league has lined up New Orleans-born sports lawyer Jac Sperling, vice chairman of the NHL's Minnesota Wild, to be the NBA's administrator of the team and oversee its sale to a more permanent owner, the person told The Associated Press on Sunday on condition of anonymity because the move hasn't been publicly announced.
