Watching how the two have operated on the court lately, however, creates a different impression. I fear that Ford may be reverting to the selfish T.J. who reared his ugly head at the end of last season in Toronto. At best, he's been pressing over the past month as he tries to regain the starting job after a back injury.

The past two games he's shot 7-of-24 with five turnovers, and qualitatively it's seemed worse -- the shots have been forced and the passes made only as a last resort, and the ball sticks with him instead of flowing to Danny Granger. We don't know yet whether it's just a brief, insignificant blip or whether it's something larger, but it warrants watching.

Jack is starting now, and TJ is coming off the bench.
it was only a matter of time really. i mean c'mon, even at the start of the season, Jack would finish the games and TJ would usually sit the final 5 minutes. the writing was on the wall. TJ is a shoot frst PG who looks to get his shot going instead of working the ball around to his teamates.
Granger is their bread and butter, and is quite a ball hog himself. when he doesnt get his touches (especially when TJ is taking them), its obvious he's going to let the coaches know.
I remember watching an Indy game a few weeks back. they were down by 2 with 3 seconds to go. everyone thought Granger was going to get the ball... i'm sure thats how O'brien drew the play up in the huddle. yet TJ took the last shot and missed it badly. they panned over to Granger and his look was utter disgust. kinda like he was thinking "that wasnt the play, asshole!"
watch an Indy game when you get a chance, TJ and Jack are like night and day... TJ takes way too many bad shots, while Jack passes all the time.
de ja vu.

hm - I think this topic definitely belongs in the Raptors forum, as it's another evidence that Bryan's decision to keep Jose was the right one.

Jack is an even bigger ballhog than Ford, and he's more turnover-prone. It's why they give Diener so many minutes; he's the only point guard who'll look to pass-first.

Still, i've seen their last 3 games and Ford really hasn't taken that many bad shots. He might have taken a couple but then, he's always done that. He's not making the shots because it's blatantly evident he's still not healthy (you can see him grimacing more than once in a game) and he doesn't have that much lift in his jumper.

As for us winning the trade, i don't know. If Hibbert can work on his stamina, the guy's going to be good. I really wish we wouldn't have given away that pick.

From what i gather at the pacers board, everybody wants TJ 100% and to get more min, and when he plays he usually does, except coming right off an injury. O'brian's rotations make sam mitchell look like a genius aswell, but that team looks in better shape then us and ill bet $ that TJ will be starting there once he is 100%, Jack is just as unreliable but with less upside.

Jose gets no injury consideration from you but TJ does.

T.J just needs time, but BC is a failure??

There is something missing with TJ.......and it would normally be located in between the right and left ear. Its a disease called Moonitis.

are you sure about that?????
you must not be watching the same games i am.

last 5 games:

Jack:
33 minutes a game.
46 FG attempts.
7 turnovers

Ford:
25 minutes a game.
58 FG attampts.
11 turnovers

over their last 5 games played TJ has played 40 LESS minutes than Jack, but has managed to shoot 12 more shots and turnover the ball 4 more times.
thse numbers dont lie.

The numbers tell you many said TJ could barely walk normal the last couple weeks with his back injury??

I also do know Jose is better then he is playing hurt, im not dunce, i dont know the extent of it, but my whole point is, even healthy, he wasnt the PG we needed, not that he wasnt a good PG, i hate to have to keep saying this JOSE IS A VERY GOOD PG!!! But unless we were going to target a guard who could slash and not a C, it made much more sense to keep TJ. Some ppl wondered if Jose could keep up his international commitments and play heavy starter min in the nba for years on end?? The jury is still out because it's only been a year, but if Jose goes and plays heavy for Spain after this season, ill be very disappointed.

the numbers tell me one thing my arguement was trying to prove;
that TJ is a ball hog compared to Jack, and that he is also more turn-over prone.

and now that you mention his inability to walk; that tells me that he's also not very smart.
he can barely walk, yet he still puts up 15 shot attempts per game.
i'm sure his teamates enjoy their PG (who can barely walk) deciding to not pass, but shoot instead.

I've watched close to 80% of their games this year, and trust me when i tell you, Jarrett Jack is one of the most reckless point guards you will find in the L. I can't even begin to count the number of times he's gone up in the air without making up his mind and ended up turning the ball over. All that said, he's a tough SOB and a very serviceable backup, but he should not under any circumstances be playing more than 25 minutes a game. I suspect the lesser shots and turnovers are a result of O'Brien tightening the leash on him( you only need to look at his numbers for the year compared to the last 5 games for proof).

As for TJ, i'll be watching closely to see how this plays out (i think he's learned his lesson, but who knows). The guy's a warrior though; he's been playing through one injury or another since mid- December. I remember a back-to-back set against the Clippers and Philly near christmas where their team was decimated by a viral infection(granger, murphy and daniels were out). he'd just come back from a groin injury and he aggravated it in their double-overtime game against the clips. Went to philly the next day, played through it and literally carried that team to a win.

I'm glad we don't have to deal with all this drama anymore( we might if we don't move JO, ironically) but i wish the guy nothing but the best. I don't understand why Ford going through a rough patch makes some people feel vindicated.

nobody feelds vindicated (I think) - it's just another confirmation that we dealt the right guy (even if the injury scare would not be enough for some guys).

As far as TJ being injured, while true, he was starting to lose minutes to Jack even before he got hurt, I remember at least 2 games when he was benched in the closing minutes.

I was actually expecting a great season from TJ, which is why I drafted him in 2 of my 4 leagues, and I'm not really happy or impressed with his performance ...

So, it's confirmation because Calderon has been so wonderful all year? Ahhh, his injury is a legit excuse, but TJs isnt. I dont care about Calderons stats if you want to quote him and his fake assists. He has been dreadful all season. Jack is a great backup, better then we have.

Tj's a joke and will never change. If only his last name was James or Jordan, then he could act the way he does.

Is a fake assist from Calderon the same as a fake basket from Bosh?
