Hollinger: Sactown looking to move #4 pick and Udrih to move down in draft
According to John Hollinger: The Kings would really like to get Rubio, and if the rumours of them wanting a PG are true and obtaining Rubio isn't in the cards at the #4 position then it makes no sense to use that pick on a player they could get at #6 or 7.
"The Kings would be looking to off load salary and perhaps gain a young player in the deal, with dumping Beno Udrih's contract being the holy grail." PER Diem: NBA draft lottery leaves lots of trade possibilities - ESPN Last edited by jeffb; 05-22-2009 at 09:50 PM. |

The problem with giving them Kapono or Banks is, they want to cut payroll. Therefore we won't be trading up to the 4th pick unless maybe we give them the rights to Graham (final year/Qualifying Offer @ 3.4Mil).
#9/Graham (final yr/QO) for #4/Udrih (3yrs/19Mil remaining + PO) Yikes, wouldn't touch that or #9/Kapono (2yrs/12.8Mil remaining) for #4/Nocioni (3yrs/21Mil remaining + TO) I don't see either of these happening. Last edited by jeffb; 05-23-2009 at 08:14 PM. |

Depends on how badly they want cap space. I agree, but at the same time Kapono only has two years left on his contract (12.8Mil) vs 3 yrs (21Mil) plus a possible 4th year.

Ok, somebody needs to establish the idea that cap space isn't the be all end all. The Kings don't need it, they need good players. If they were ever going to try to dump someone now at this point it would probably be Beno as he's been a disaster as a starter. Nocioni is a very good player. Chances are they're going to be hard pressed to find a much better @ 3yrs for $7M/yr. Given the fact that Kapono is garbage I think its a ridiculous notion that they would move an impact player for a stiff and keep said stiff for two years all for the purpose of clearing $7M off the books two years down the road. We're not talking about a guy who is set to make $15-20M in his final year or nothing. Kapono for Nocioni will never happen in a million years. As I said, they moved the John Salmons for him and John had a pretty damn good year himself.
