Default History of The Malice at the Palace

An oral history of the Malice at the Palace - Grantland

It's worth the read, trust.

A couple of quotes which made me stop for a second:

Quote:
Angel: The only time I felt I was about to get hurt was when a policeman popped his pepper spray container and started shaking it up. Reggie Miller was pleading with him, "Please don't. My suit costs x-hundred dollars."
Nice, Reg.

Quote:
Jackson: I knew we had to get out of this arena before all these guys in the nosebleed seats got down to our section. That's the felons, the guys that really don't care about losing anything. If they come down there, somebody's going to really get hurt.
Thats Jackson for you.

Yeah, because everyone who sits in the 3rd section in an arena are done with life and a much bigger threat because they got less expensive tickets.

Part of this whole story was how mob mentality takes over, yet the people in the top row are the much bigger threat then what was going on with the people in the more expensive seats? Please.

Thrills is right. I've been to one game in Auburn Hills and it's like being in Oakville. Rich folk out there. If it was downtown Detroit, I'd agree, yeah, you got shady characters, but Auburn Hills? nah.

Less is more. More or less. But mostly less. Or should that be more?

Downtown is less scary than it might seem. It's the areas just outside of the core that can be pretty rough.
