Hill to Celtics?

and the old get older

Quote:
Even after signing Rasheed Wallace, the Celtics still have interest in veteran forward Grant Hill.

Boston could offer Hill their biannual exception, which is worth $1.9 million.

Hill, 36, could receive better offers from teams like the Knicks, who are coached by Mike D'Antoni, Hill's coach from the 2007-08 season in Phoenix.

He would play behind Paul Pierce in Boston.

media people in Boston are also mentioning that Hill will be a Celtic

Celtics are getting older than the Spurs.

The Celtics will be in for a rude little awakening when all these guys run out of gas. They're a contender don't get me wrong, but their window is very small.

I think they'll be good enough they can coast through the season and still get homecourt.

With players that old they'll almost have to coast if they want to be healthy come playoff time. Homecourt would be nice but I think they'd much prefer to have their squad injury-free.

The Spurs have been doing it for years. They manage their veteran players minutes players as the season goes on and they still manage to get homecourt and even win titles.

BTW, they're not that old.

this is a great move IMO.
Hill still has what it takes to put in 15-20 solid minutes a night, and produce.
he's a great veteran leader and if they can pick him up for under 2 million, thats a HUGE bonus to bolster their bench.

Perkins/Wallace
Garnett/Davis (should they re-sign him)
Pierce/Hill
Allen/Allen
Rondo/Pruitt

That's a deep 10 if you ask me. They'll prolly get a veteran PG for the veteran minimum.

If KG can't play at 100 percent anymore, and Davis doesn't return, then they will be banking on Sheed an awful lot, and I think his age is definitely catching up with him. They could do well if everything goes right, but they could also find themselves in the same kind of trouble that last season's Pistons found themselves in. If the slightest thing goes wrong with Pierce, then things will start to crumble pretty quickly.

12 and 5 on 51% shooting from the field last year.

Getting signed for cheap and coming off the bench to play less than 20 mpg.

And its a bad move?

Anyone who thinks so should wake up. You get Grant Hill to replace NOBODY(Celts often played Marbs or House with Rondo because they had no backup sg or sf) and its a fantastic move not to mention the fact he can still play.

If they re sign Eddie House or get an upgrade at PG their 8 man rotation is mean. All they gotta do then is sign a couple of guys who can play spot minutes at PG and PF and their roster is set. And the old guys wont get tired if they have 8 legit guys who can play because theyll be blowing so many teams out and splitting minutes that when you have KG at 32 mpg and PP and RA down to 35 mpg or less from where they were theyll be a lot more juiced up come playoff time.

I dont get where the KG wont be 100% thing comes from. The one game where he came back from the injury in the regular season he went like 5/5 against the Cavs I beleive in 10 minutes. You give him 6+ months to rehab and he'll be back to normal. Having Sheed as a backup will only allow him to get more rest, and now that Perkins is a legit starting C even more of the pressure will be taken off.

REphrase: Since KG can't play at 100 percent anymore.

Im talking spot guy as in veteran scrub that can play 10mpg if need be and still play a little bit like Brevin Knight. A guy like that only if need be. Humphries would be a great fit for them.

they will be dangerous if they get hill also, he knows how to run the floor and create on his own and for others. plus he dunks over ppl at his age, which is wicked amazing, whats not to like.

the only problem is that players like him and amare thrive in a fast pace offense and boston doesn't provide that alot, so only one can wonder about how well he will actually play for the celts

Knicks making a run at Hill

Quote:
Knicks Make An Offer To Grant Hill

The Knicks spent nearly all day and night with Grant Hill on Monday, ending it with a contract offer.

The New York Post is reporting that the offer is for one-year and is worth a portion of the club's mid-level exception.

"We think we have a chance, but you never know," a team source said of landing the free-agent forward.

Hill has been linked to the Suns and Celtics as well.

"You want to have players who've had a lot of success before so they can show the other players how to do it," Knicks president Donnie Walsh told The Post. "That's the kind of player we want to bring in."
