Heat interested in Kwame Brown

If i was the Heat I'd pick him up on the cheap. He is a low risk money-wise high reward type of guy. They need a big man who can be a bully. Kwame can be a bully defensively and offensively

However, he said Mason visited the Heat last week. Free agents can sign at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday.

Bartelstein said Brown and Pargo are not yet scheduled to visit Miami. Mason and Pargo could help the Heat bolster its backcourt. Miami landed former Kansas point guard Mario Chalmers in the NBA Draft and has backup Marcus Banks under contract but would like more depth.

Mason, 27, averaged a career-best 9.1 points last season for the Washington Wizards. The former University of Virginia player is a combo guard but primarily played point guard last season. He excelled in his nine starts for Washington, averaging 17.4 points. Pargo backed up NBA MVP runner-up Chris Paul in New Orleans last season and averaged 8.1 points and 2.4 assists in 18.7 minutes a game. He is an outside threat and thrived in the playoffs, averaging 10.2 points as a reserve.

Personally, I don't see any use in going through with this. If they get Kwame, he'll have to be 3rd string which won't be worth at all. He'll ask for like $8 million, which won't come as a big surprise considering it'll be $1.3 million less than his other contract. He's way overpaid IMO.

I think I just saw Andrea do a sigh of relief.

Kirby 07-09-2008 10:39 PM

He should be relieved lol. He's still runner up to Brown and Milicic.

I still think Darko takes first place though as biggest bust. He was picked before Carmelo, Bosh, Wade, Kaman, Hinrich, and Ford. Enough said :haha:

Kirby 07-09-2008 10:46 PM

But Darko at least averages 6 rebounds and around 6 points as an average. Kwame averages like fricken 4 points and 2 rebounds as a starter..How is that even possible with Kobe on your team?
Actually, Darko can still be a pretty solid backup player. He's averaged 7 ppg and 6 rpg this season. Or maybe that's just because he's starting?

Don't forget he got traded after 23 games with LAL. He played the rest with Memphis where he started just one game.

But you're right, compare the stats when he was with LAL and Memphis you'll see a huge jump from MEM to Lakers.

Actually, he played 3 seasons with the Lakers. It's actually funny how Brown and Milicic were both on the Grizzlies as starters together.:haha:
