Heat Heat Actually Want Quentin Richardson As a Starter!!!!!!!!!!

I had to pinch myself when I saw this article, but really? Why do they have so much confidence in Q-Rich? It sounds like they want him.

Two days ago, Quentin Richardson was little more than an abstract when it came to the Heat's rotation.

And now he's being mentioned in some quarters as a potential starting small forward?

Before the Michael Beasley experiment is at least given a preseason? Before James Jones is given the opportunity to defend the role he claimed at the end of last season?

The future for the Heat, barring any sort of trade, is Beasley's development. The role at small forward might not be the best fit, but the depth chart entering camp has to include Beasley in some sort of starting spot.

Then there is Jones, who will remain on the Heat's books for an additional three seasons, regardless if the Heat bypasses picking up the next segment of his contract by that June 30, 2010 deadline.

As for Richardson, he should slot somewhere in the rotation also behind Daequan Cook, who also stands as part of the franchise's future.

Understand, the Heat's relative inactivity this summer has been based on a platform of development, of the future, of having younger players ready to go when the 2010 cap cash arrives to augment Dwyane Wade.

If Richardson stays beyond this season, it will be in a similar circumstance as Jermaine O'Neal -- at a steep, steep pay cut, if at all.

Beasley, Jones and Cook will likely still be on the books. The Heat needs to get those three answers over these next 12 months.

If Richardson helps the Heat win a game or two or three along the way, it's more than Mark Blount would have accomplished, which would make the trade a net gain.

But Richardson as some sort of savior at small forward? At 29 years old, in the final year of a contract? No, that can't be what this is about. Can it?

Probably because when used correctly Q-Rich is an above average producer. Pretty much anywhere he's actually suited up he's been a starter at one point or another.

When you have up and coming Michael Beasley, its a bad idea to lower his confidence after a sub- par rookie campaign. I think they might be looking to deal him if he doesn't develop by the deadline next season.

Starting lineup, if you included Beasley looks very undersized but a pretty decent and solid roster.

Chalmers - 6'1
Wade - 6'4
Q-Rich - 6'6
Beasley - 6'9
JO - 6'11

That line-up looks nice, but Wade still isn't getting too much help.

I love that backcourt though. Chalmers was a steal.

Well James Jones is their only other playable SF really. Diawara and Wright suck cock.

Jones or QBrick... eh I could see it either way, a couple years ago it'd be JJ easy, but he's fallen off. QBrick is QBrick but he's not HORRIBLE

Yeah, they can be sixth seed. I really like what Joel Anthony brings off the bench. AEnergy, quickness, shot blocking.

Meh, sometimes I'm 5' 7'', sometimes I'm 5' 4''. Just depends on what day it is.

like us miami is trying to keep their star player. but, well were doing it by adding some of his friends as long as they fit and a lot of talent. miami is just trying to scrounge up all of d-wades friends no matter

whether they kill the rotation or chemistry. stupid pat riley.

D-Wade already said that he wants to stay. Not like Miami will force him out. When you have a player of Wade's caliber wanting to stay in a city, he'll stay there no matter what and the GM, coach, teammates and fans will be happy about it.
