Hawks & Warriors Near Jamal Crawford Trade

Warriors coach Don Nelson made no secret of the fact that Crawford wasn't in his future plans. By shedding Crawford's longer contract and by virtue of insurance payments that will cover some of the costs of Claxton, Golden State would secure a decent measure of payroll relief with the trade.

Less clear is what impact the move will have on Atlanta's forthcoming negotiations with free agent-to-be Mike Bibby. Although Crawford is not a pure point guard, he's a prolific scorer whose arrival could affect the sort of contract offer Bibby expected to command from the Hawks.

I hope he is. Because it's oddly quiet on the Raptors trade rumours and with all the wheeling and dealing going on i feel left out!

Hump/Ukic/Graham is NOT a better offer. And on top of that, Graham is a FA.
Law hasn't been able to crack ATL's lineup because of injury and because of the acquisition of Bibby, but he's a solid 1. At least Law could start on GSW. The trio you mentioned are basically our end of the bench guys. You're overhyping our shit.

What does all of this mean? It means that GSW is gonna go with Derozan/Johnson (maybe Hill if he's there).

Golden state did this for monetary reasons. Insurance will cover Claxton's wage because of his injury situation and they save some cap space overall. There's nothing reasonable that we could have offered them to trump Atlanta's offer.

I'm confused by the Atlanta side of this.

One less team to worry about making the playoffs over us in the East. Sweet!

Possibly. I still think they have too many wings to ignore the point guard talent in this draft.

Atlanta does this because they pretty much have no use for Claxton's contract or Law.
Law is overrated IMO, and is just a backup at best.

Golden state was pretty much giving Crawford away, and Atlanta snapped it up. People like to jump on the Hawks' bandwagon and all the players they have, but offensively the only real scorer on that team is JJ. now they add Crawford who can put the ball in the net when JJ is cold.

i didnt realize Law or Claxton helped them into the playoffs last season.

they didnt lose anything of value and in return they get a 20ppg scorer.

Yeah, but a week ago we were hearing that they wanted to save money to pay Williams and Bibby. This deals does nothing to help that.

Humphries is garbage, plain and simple. If he can play within his own limits and talents, he could develop into a very good 1st big off of the bench.
Ukic is still a mystery.

Some of you are talking like Law is washed up. The kid was a lotto pick 2 years ago. I wouldn't write him off as of yet. GSW got a good deal.

Bibby is as good as gone. They'll concentrate on Williams imo.

If anything it makes Williams expendable.

And if BC has any minerals he'll do what he can to acquire this young, star in the making.

i think realistically the hawks know they only have enough money to bring one of those FA's back.
and since they are trading Law, my guess is that its going to be Bibby.

I don't know Williams/Crawford at the 2/3 spots is very nice imo.

you think they'll be starting JJ at PG?
yeah, i doubt that.
