Harden available this summer?

Link

Most likely just wishful thinking but how do you split those 4 apart? IMO you have to keep Harden, Westbrook, Durant and Ibaka together though it could be way too expensive to do that.

Harden is up for making some $$$ next season.

talk about a change in outlook for harden if he goes from okc and a possible 'ship to charlotte...

This is why I think all of the "dynasty" talk in regards to OKC is a bit premature.... until they lock up ALL of their core guys there's no guarantees.

I don't think OKC can do it, the heat is barely making it work with 3x20mil a year players and scrubs and a team full of holes. OKC is going to tie up 4 players that will probably make a combined 60-70 mil a year? Maybe they can...these 4 players are much more balanced than the 3 from the Heat...but wow, can they afford the luxury tax implications and a 100+mil a year payroll?

They can wait till they've won two titles in a row and make the decision then.... after that it'd be much easier to trade Harden knowing that they've allowed Durant to take a healthy 2-0 ring lead over Lebron!

i can't help but think that harden will be the next player not to live up to a humungous contract.

there was a thread on realgm, "harden vs. westbrook. who do you keep?"

it's not even close

I believe Marc Stein brought up a scenario where they resign Harden and Ibaka and I believe next year, they amnesty Kendrick Perkins, which would keep that core intact.

The other option is that they pull a San Antonio and play together for the championships, get paid well (maybe not max, but well) and go from there.

MrClutch 06-14-2012 06:17 PM

i think they could keep him and ibaka if they took a paycut and then amnestied perkins

rapsmannn 06-15-2012 04:44 AM

plus they have players that have team options they don't ahve to pick up that add up to around 6 millions dollars, also i wonder how long your allowed to have amnesty because they don't have to use it on perkins until 2014

they only real issue is harden and ibaka, how much money they want and leave on the table if one of them doesn't want to leave anything on the table they can do a sign and trade down the road but there is risk losing a player for nothing

charlotte is smart to offer there pick right now knowing down the road the problems that okc are goign to run into
