The ball is in Tyson Chandler’s court.

With NBA free agents allowed to officially sign contracts on Friday, Chandler has a deal from the Warriors in front of him worth more than $60 million over four years, according to two league sources.

The Warriors have made Chandler Priority No. 1 this offseason, and they hope to get an answer from Chandler on Day 1 of free agency. The hope is by Friday the Warriors will know if they have a defensive anchor at center or whether they’ll have to go in another direction.

In order to sign Chandler – assuming he agrees – the Warriors will likely have to amnesty center Andris Biedrins, still owed $27 million over three years.
Absolutely idiotic. I'd bet no ones offering anything more than 12 mil for his services. If they dont get CP3 its going to look even worse. Welcome to mediocrity/terrible teams(especially if he continues being injury prone) forever.

Apparently they're also looking at Caron Butler. If they sign both they'll be a playoff team imo. Curry, Ellis, Butler, Lee, Chandler is pretty good.

And they need a drastic change in personnel to be able to back up the talk of defense from Jackson. Chandler and Butler would make a big difference right away.

Hopefully we could pick up Biedrins if they amnesty him.

We could have a Center by committee for this year, with Bargs, Beans, Magloire, Alabi and Ed/Amir.

Honestly... this is what pisses me off about NBA GMs.

That contract is just about as idiotic as Joe Johnson's IMO.

The guy goes to a VERY good team (DAL) and helps put them over the top and suddenly he's a "franchise player"???

WTF?

That's the thing - every GM is an egomaniac by trade, and as such they all believe they have a VERY good team already - especially those that have average-to-decent teams, like the Knicks or Warriors - and just need that piece to put them over the top, and look to the most recent champion for that piece. So these players get way overpaid, whether that's 15 million a season or less (see Turkoglu, Hedo).

15 mil a year for a guy who was considered vastly overpaid at 10 million just a year ago, before he went to Dallas for Erick Dampier.

The Mavs won 50 games for 10 straight years though.... how the hell do NYK and GS even start to think that their teams are anywhere NEAR that good???

It's lunacy.

Chandler must be laughing his ass off right now, getting ready to count his money.
