Grizzlies might look to S&T Rudy Gay

Quote:
The Grizzlies could look complete a sign-and-trade involving restricted free agent forward Rudy Gay if they don't re-sign him outright.

Teams can discuss sign-and-trade scenarios prior to July 1, when the free agent signing period begins, as long as discussions don't include the player(s) involved.

Memphis hasn't discussed any scenarios, but a sign-and-trade remains an option.

Rudy Gay can only get the maximum allowed.
He would be like any other free agent except the Grizzles can match his salary.
It is up to them to do that they won't get great value for him in a S&T

His first year salary could be $9,842,991, thats a lot. And there are many teams that can and oprobably will offer that.

His actual maximum salary could be 25% of salary cap $13,145 using last years cap and for non-bird rights a total of $76,245 million for 5years at 8% or 99.58 million 6 years with bird-rights with annual increases over base at 10.5%

So he is alot more expensive than what you think.
Also a lesson for those who quibble at what Bargs makes BC got one heck of a deal on him in the extension.

The way the deal could be done is Bosh to Miami for Beasley Miami's 1st round pick and there 3 2nd round picks for 2010 and Toronto's 1st round pick in 2011. Beasley, Jose,Evans and Beli for Arenas and 2011 1st

Offer maximum for Roy.....trade JJ, DD, Miami's 1st 2010 and Washington1st 2011

We would have Arenas Banks PG, Weems resign Wright SG, Roy, Turk SF BargsC Amir resign PF draft Whiteside plus 3 second rounders to play with for other holes

If we're talking about Rudy Gay, I thought his first year salary can't be more than 300% of his previous.
5 year with 8 % raises would be 72,2 mil and 6 year with 10.5% 94,8 mil

Anyhow, there would be plenty takers and Toronto shouldn't be part of that bidding match.

I would look at Ryan Gomes or Jeff Green for that athletic SF/PF. Both could be available and for much less. Beasley is another of course. Neither is worth giving up Bosh. Bargs, maybe...

In many cases it would be right except that he is coming off a rookie contract so it is 25% of the cap. This explains it well.

Maximum Contract Values nbaroundtable

How much would Gay want per year? I'll say around $10 mill.

Bosh, Hedo to Grizz for Gay, Brewer, Randolph?

Jack/Jose/Banks
Brewer/Weems/DeRozan
Gay/Wright
Randolph/Amir/Evans
Bargs/Dorsey

Maybe Bosh likes country music.
