Griffin close to returning

The Clippers are targeting Jan. 20 for the debut of rookie forward Blake Griffin, a source told Yahoo! Sports.

Griffin, the first overall pick in last year's NBA Draft, has missed the entire season with a stress fracture in his left kneecap.

no one will care about 21/5/5 ?
get real.
unless Griffin puts up 30/12 over the next 3 months, Evans will be walking away with that trophy come April.

Thats right.

Except, he probably will get close to that.

So, there ya go.

Nobody cares about the "other guy" when the hyped guy starts putting up numbers.

GRIFFIN!!!!!!

Love it.

Kid is a stud. He probably wont get many 12 rebound nights playing along with Camby and Kaman, but he will have alot of highlights and big scoring nights.

BTW that frontcourt is gonna look real real real good in another month or so when Griffin gets up to speed, but look for Camby to be traded.

Future what exactly? I don't buy that one bit.

Atlanta
OKC
Portland

are more the future then Memphis/Clippers.

I know, they would be wise to package Camby and Gordon/Thorton to land themselves a solid defensive player at the sf/sf spot who can still score and shoot(Butler)

They are looking real good thoough.

And OKC and Memphis is looking real solid.

I don't see Portland and Atlanta getting that much better. OKC is one legit big man and a couple years of playoff experience away from being a title contender. The Clippers have talent at every position with four potential game changers when Griffin comes back.

I expect OKC and LAC to be in the top half of the conference in a couple years.

I don't see LAC being that good in the near future.

BaronDavis
Ricky Davis
Rasual Butler
Eric Gordon
Thornton
Novak
Skinner
Telfair
Craig Smith
Mardy Collins
Jordan
Griffin
Kaman
Camby

Other then Griffin/Kaman/Gordon and a few younger players (who knows how good they'll be?)....not impressed. Plus it's the Clippers...how will they screw up this time?

the Clippers will continue to suck... they have 2 good youngsters in Gordon and Griffin, but thats it. Kaman will get his 14/9, Baron will squeeze the life out of everyone, and Canby will be traded or injured. big whoop.
OKC is the team of the future IMO... Westbrook is ridiculously good (and underrated), Durant is a star, and Jeff Green is solid. if they could land a big man, they'd be powerful. that nucleus is freaking every team out in the west right now, and they'll only get better.

I'm sure they will land a big man considering next year's free agent class, and their cap space

Most of those huys you listed are expirings.

In fact, if the Clips extend their options to Jordon, Collins, Telfair then they would only be sitting at 40 million in salary(including a pick in the top 10 2010) and including pick 9 guys under contact.

And who knows what trades they be able to pull off with the amount of expirings and solid young players that they have available now.

Just say for example that Washington really decides they need to shed some salary.

Butler, Miller, pick swap

for

Camby, Thorton, Davis, Telfair, pick swap

16 million in expirings, a young player in Thorton and the pick swap for either this year or future when LAC pick is higher than Washingtons

Team then

BDiddy
Miller
Butler
Griffin
Kamby

Hypothetical, yeas, but the team has LOADS of otions going forward from here. Best they have looked in years.

clips wont be as bad as some think if griffin's comes back healthy.
Kaman has taken that next step, guy is averaging 20/9 with good percentages. Paired with griffin and camby off the bench, that is a really decent frontcourt rotation

i dont tihnk there that far off, but alot will depend of griffin. I think he's the real deal, gonna be dunking on heads probably a month from now
