Default Greg Oden wants to play this year.

and for Miami if they're open to it.

Quote:
Greg Oden has decided he doesn't want to sit out the entire 12-13 NBA season as he previously stated in an May interview.

Oden called his agent Mike Conley and that he wants to play.

“(Oden) called me, and he was kind of excited,’’ Conley said Thursday. “I think he’s motivated …. He wants to play. He had said he wanted to take this season off, but he’s backed off from that …. He’s open to playing this season. I think he will play this season.’’

Oden has had five surgeries on his knees since entering the NBA.

“He’s starting to work out,’’ Conley said of Oden, who was recently cleared for workouts, feeling better about his situation. “He’s excited. You can tell he’s getting antsy. At the end of the day, I want him to finish out his NBA career. He’s still pretty young (24).’’

Conley said he has not heard from the Miami Heat at all since Oden was waived. But he said Oden has interest in the Heat if they ever were to be interested.

“Obviously, if the Heat wanted him, who wouldn’t want to play for the Heat?’’ Conley said of the defending champions. “That goes without saying. They have roster spots and a need (at center). But it’s too early to say about where he might play.’’

Conley expects Oden to find a contract.

“He’s going to sign somewhere,’’ Conley said. “He’s going to get healthy and be coming back.’’

I just have a really bad feeling that miami will get him for cheap, the mle or w/e, and he'll turn out to be their next big star as wade starts digressing quickly due to age.

Neither does Dajuan Blair and he's been doing pretty well.... you never know.

If he played for cheap I'd pick him up if I were MIA. If he can be even HALF as good as what he was projected to be he'll be worth it.... and the Heat will have someone who can match Howard's size in the event that both teams make the finals.

It's a nice little story.... until his next setback. Seriously, one season's worth of games in five years, five major surgeries on his knees as a seven footer..... it's all hope and excitement now, but I hate the idea that he's getting over-anxious and optimistic that he's now backing off his rational decision to sit out the year to heal and is now intending to play the year. This guy just doesn't learn, you can't rush this shit.

He played like crap when he got in there. We never saw Oden the Magnificent, because he got hurt before preseason even got underway his rookie year. I'd be happy if the kid can walk straight, after letting the twisted Blazer witch doctors have their way with him for 5 years.

First of all Blair is apparently on the trade block so how great is that. Secondly he has had a massive amount of knee surgeries like Oden. Djuan Blair won't have a long career either imo.

Ligaments vs. Cartilage. Apples vs. Oranges. DeJuan Blair has no more ACL's in his legs but his knee cartilage is still there. Oden has had a series of injuries that have negatively affected the cartilage in his knee(s). DeJuan's condition is unique.

Funny how you laugh about what the guy wants to do. One of the nicest guys ever in the NBA, I wish him the best no matter what he wants to do.

I'm not laughing at Oden. I'm laughing at the hilarious timing of this tread + Oden's comments.
