Blazers Greg Oden out for year

Dang. I feel bad for him but I will say I am glad he left after one year after being a Buckeye because he at least got paid some money.

Quote:
The Portland Trailablazers announced Wednesday night that center Greg Oden is out for the rest of the season and will undergo microfracture surgery on his left knee.

Oden has not played in an NBA game since since fracturing his left patella in a Dec. 5, 2009. According to a press release, a recent MRI showed damaged cartilage to the surface of his femur, and his current injury is unrelated to the fractured left patella.

Oden also had microfracture surgery on his right knee on Sept. 13, 2007.

I hate to say it but yeah I pretty much agree now. Its a damn shame also. Watching him one year at Ohio State was fun. He was a amazing and knew the sky was the limit with him. Sadly injuries will never let him live up to the hype.

When healthy, he is deserving of being picked over Durant. Big men that are as dominant as Oden was while healthy are hard to come by. A defensive beast.

Too bad. Could've been a force. If God exists, he clearly prefers the perimeter oriented big man these days.

Oden's an RFA after this season. I wonder how many teams with approach him.

this is exactly why teams shy away from injury prone players - and players with a known past injury - on draft day.

i feel bad for the guy, but in all seriousness, he should consider retiring.

WOW, again!!!!!!! I know he still makes a shitload of money compared to average joes, but imagine how much pain the guy has been through his whole life!!!

BTW, what a sucker-punch to the Trailblazers eh? Roy's and Oden's young careers could be going down the toilet.

Unbelieveable. Darko Milic and Adam Morrison are now more valuable picks.

Oh well. At least he got to show his frankfurter to the world before he limps off into the sunset.

This makes Pritchard not seem as glamorous as some thought. He screwed that draft up far more impressively than some think Colangelo did with Bargnani. You can't win with a dominant big man sitting on the IR every year and a star SG who has the knees of a 70 year old woman.
