He's asking for the min, worth it?

Cheyeaaaaaaaaah!

Dark Knight 07-12-2012 06:27 PM

I'd take a flyer on old man Oden. Why not? :dancing:

krillog 07-12-2012 06:38 PM

No question that's worth the risk. I don't know what sort of condition he'll be in athletically when he returns but Oden at just a fraction of the level he was expected to play at when he was first drafted is probably still an upgrade over joel anthony at center.

Don Vito 07-12-2012 06:38 PM

Its worth it IMO. Obviously he won't start, he might be good off the bench if he can stay healthy.

box92 07-12-2012 07:37 PM

I would lock him in for a few years for the cheapest possible deal

I don't know dude, this in a way reminds me when Cleveland waited for Ilgauskas to get healthy. Except Oden is much more talented, if he would come back and actually stay relatively healthy he would be a steal. I would love to have him as a 2nd or 3rd center.

He hasn't been healthy for 5yrs and has had like 18 knee surgeries. The man is done.

if he ever became healthy, he has the tools and talent to be a starter centre, even at this stage of his career. he was projected to be as good if not better than dwight let's not forget, or else portland wouldn't have skipped durant.

Dark Knight 07-12-2012 08:05 PM

If Oden hadn't had knee troubles, he'd be a top 5 center in the league. Easily.

We'll never know since his knees are made of glass

In the games he played when healthy, he was definitely an upper-echelon type center. The man was a monster on both ends of the court.

But, your point is valid. Signing a guy because of the possible "what ifs" that surround him would be a gamble. The question is if BC is willing to roll the dice. :reporter:

I just seen " Greg Oden has interest in " and I already knew it was the Heat! The NBA is almost getting wack now.

Deuce Dropper 07-12-2012 08:25 PM

If Oden signs with the Heat and they win a championship. I think that would totally devalue the championship ring. They might as well sign me to a min contract so I can have the honors of being an NBA Champion

Kirby 07-12-2012 08:44 PM

honestly, eff off with the Heat. I hate the NBA for this garbage.

I remember buying SLAM the month before they got drafted and reading all about how he was the next Shaq. Both him and Durant were hyped like crazy. Dude was gonna tear up the league. Such a sad story.

Toby 07-12-2012 11:32 PM

it's over. He ain't no Brandon Roy

+1

It's getting embarassing. Latching on like pararsites to a team conceived by guys who bailed out and joined forces because they couldn't muster the guts and leadership of past legends.
