Clippers Grant Hill, Yao Ming want the Clippers

Grant Hill, Yao Ming want Clippers - ESPN

Quote:
The*Los Angeles Clippers*are not yet for sale, but two former NBA All-Stars are among the various parties assembling ownership groups potentially to buy the franchise, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.Sources told ESPN.com on Friday that Grant Hill and*Yao Mingare working separately to line up investors to lodge bids for the Clippers when the team is ultimately made available.
Quote:
Donald Sterling has agreed to allow his wife, Shelly,*to negotiate a forced sale of the Clippers, sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com on Friday.Hill is just completing his first year in retirement after a 19-season career that ended with the Clippers after seven All-Star berths. Sources say Hill has made it known within league circles that he is in the process of putting a consortium together.

Sources say that Yao, meanwhile, also plans to pursue the Clippers hard with a group of Chinese investors. The formerHouston Rockets*All-Star center owns the Shanghai Sharks in his native country and has maintained close ties to the league through the NBA's various initiatives in Asia.Yao was seriously interested in purchasing the*Bucks, sources say, but dropped out of the bidding when outgoing Milwaukee owner Herb Kohl made keeping the team in that city mandatory for any new owner.

The Bucks were ultimately sold to Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry for a purchase price of $550 million. The number of bidders for the Clippers is expected to stray well into double digits, assuming the league can force the sale of the team, as NBA commissioner Adam Silver continues to believe.Other notables said to have interest in purchasing the Clippers include: Larry Ellison, who could partner with David Geffen and Oprah Winfrey; former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer; Magic Johnson along with executives at Guggenheim Partners, who teamed up to buy the Dodgers; billionaire Antony Ressler.Grantland's Bill Simmons first reported Yao's interest in the Clippers.

Shit everyone is gunning to own this team. Rightfully so given their successful track record. Wondering what the price would be to buy it. do the sterling still possess the power to inflate the price regardless of the pressure to sell the team?

If those Chinese buy the franchise, expect an immediate namechange.
L.A. Red Dragons.

LeBron James should opt out of his contract, buy the clippers as a majority owner like Mario with the pens

he'll get ownership profits, salary from being a player, possibility of getting more commercials from just being available in Hollywood, and the great publicity he would get, and also looking like a business genius

players get a percentage of jersey sales which is shared throughout the union, LeBron would probably be getting larger chunk of that as a owner, he would get paid twice there

Okay, did my part.

I honestly didn't know. Again, english isn't my native language. Who could've known? Seriously, they're from China and they're men, wtf? Don't ask me what you Americans/Canadians did to besmirch a totally harmless word.

To be honest, I also had no idea there was something wrong with the term. To a non-native it sound no different from Englihsman, Frenchman or Irishman. I dont think any of these are offensive.

To me it has always been hard to understand what term in english are considered offensive. Many of the same term are not considered offensive in my native language (even though in many cases its almost the same word that is considered offensive in English). I've learned a few cases over the years, but its sometimes really hard to know before someone points that out.

Thank you. My point exactly. I was over the line calling Cousins the R-word earlier, I agree, but this........ You guys could've just send me a PM asking to remove the word, but I guess lecturing me in public was more satisfying eh?

Now back ontopic!

There is nothing wrong with chinamen,

I think Jeffb confused the rob ford reference. He used "orientals" to describe factory workers which was quite offensive in the context of the situation whereas chinamen is more neutral.

Really, I've always been told it's offensive. And looking it up online it states "usually offensive"

Didn't you know, anything that can be used as a descriptor to a group or race of people is racist. You're not allowed to talk about another race in any way shape or form, thats racist.

Fuck NA's society, it's total shit.

I'm a native speaker and had no idea it was offensive either soooo w/e, but don't think I ever used the term. You learn something new everyday
