Default Gordon to sign with DET...

Quote:
According to my guy K.C. Johnson's most recent blog post on Chicago Tribune's sports site, Ben Gordon is on his way to Detroit to sign with the Pistons. Having just worked the phones on this, a source tells me that barring a last second change of heart, Gordon will be a member of the team by the end of the day.

Johnson is reporting the deal for Gordon is "in the neighborhood of $50 million over five years". The source I talked to confirmed BG is in Detroit now and is set to meet with Pistons GM Joe Dumars.
Gordon To Sign With Pistons - Kap's Corner

This is where we need to be calling Joe D and getting Rip or Tayshaun for cheap, because one of them is going to be gone.

I dont like the move for DET honestly. Stuckey/Gordon is too small and isnt going anywhere IMO.

I'm just saying two times it's been posted here that he flew to detroit and is signing with the Pistons. But good point on RIP/Prince......Maybe Marion S&t for one of them?

How could we get Rip?
Bosh/Bargs/Caldy are staying
Marion doesn't really work since they have Prince
unless they're looking for more salary dumps

Id much rather Tayshaun. Those two traded for eachother straightup would be such a steal for us.

I still wouldnt mind Rip though even with 4 years left on his deal. Hes the most fit player in the NBA(hes 30), and I think hes still got 2-3 years left at 15+ PPG. Then in the last year of his deal we can just trade him easily, so itd really only be a 3 year thing.

For Marion. Everything with DET would be for Marion. With Marion they can play smaller if theyre looking to make the team a quick up and down team too which it seems like theyre goign to be doing with that small backcourt.

Tayshaun would be nice. I'm just ecstatic that we don't have to hear about any possibility of Gordon coming here.

A year ago I would've never guessed the Nuggets and Pistons would be where they are now. Talk about a total reversal. A team of Stuckey, Gordon, Rip, Prince, Charlie V. isn't doing shit in this league. If I was them I'd call up the Lakers and see if they'd do Prince for Bynum or something, at least that'd give them a viable core young guy to rebuild with.

Outstanding NBA sources that I just spoke to with direct knowledge of the negotiations tell me that Ben Gordon is still in Detroit as of 3:31 p.m. CST. In addition, he has told friends that he will call John Paxson and Gar Forman to offer the Bulls a chance to match Detroit's offer which I am being told will be for roughly 50 million over 5 years but could creep a little higher if that is what it takes to keep the Bulls from matching. Stay tuned....

Looks like its a done deal...

Quote:
The Pistons have reached a deal in principle with Ben Gordon, a source with knowledge of talks tells Adrian Wojnarowski.

The deal is believed to be worth $55 million over five years.

RealGM Note: Gordon was ranked 48th in season FIC during the 2008-09 season and 'deserved' a salary of $11.24 million. He played under the qualifying offer after being unable to reach an agreement with Chicago.

There gonna be really small.
Better for us, one less team snagging the 8th spot.

The more you look at the landscape in Detroit/Portland (Hedo), Marion alsmost has to sign or S&T with the Raptors. Nobody is clamering to get him except us.

Default Gordon and Charlie V sign with Detroit

Villanueva Comes To Terms With Detroit

Jul 01, 2009 7:40 PM EST

Charlie Villanueva has agreed to a five-year deal with the Pistons. His contract is worth at least $35 million.

RealGM Note: Villanueva had been expected to sign with Cleveland, but with Carlos Boozer remaining in Utah, the Pistons had additional resources to pursue a big.

Sources: Detroit Pistons sign both Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva - ESPN

Former Bulls guard Gordon will receive a five-year, $55 million deal, while former Bucks forward Villanueva gets a five-year deal for $35 million, sources told ESPN.com's Chris Broussard.

I was thinking the other day that the Pistons might be able to really help themselves. But I don't think much of this. They are going to go from being one of the best defensive teams ever, to being terrible.

Do they even have a coach yet?
