In final year of deal, Karl was pushing for a contract extension, and ownership wasn't prepared to give it to him, source tells Y!
Time to jump on this, Masai.

Would he be down to shit the bed for a year or two with a rebuilding team?

This is a no-brainer for me. One of the top 10 coaches in the league. Hopefully he'll agree with Operation Tank for the first season.

What a cheap ass organization. Don't keep the COY or EOY. If I was a Nuggets fan I'd be depressed.

I actually agree with what Shaq said recently about the recycling of coaches that have continually failed.

I'd rather get someone fresh.

I'd be pissed as a Nugget fan. It would be hard to find a replacement, not only because Karl is a premier coach, but the lack of respect that management has shown.

If the idea is to compete for a lottery pick, then why would Karl agree to come here and accumulate losses on his record?

Masai Ujiri arrives in Toronto, George Karl leaves Denver, probably reading too much into this.

Wow, so first they lose their GM...who was the EOY, now they lose their Head coach who was COY......I doubt that Denver will be attracting an elite anything after showcasing just how cheep they can be on the executive side of thigns...which has no impact on their Lux tax or Cap....

If this is any indication, then I hope there new Elite Level Coach and GM feel enjoy getting under paid, while also having fun leading a team that will never go over the Lux Tax....What a cheep ass billionaire (Net worth of 5 billion, can't shell out a few extra million to keep their GM)

I'm sure him and Masai would talk about this before signing the contract. You're right that he may not want to wait 2 years on a rebuild. Its nice though that we actually have a chance at hiring a very good coach for once.

I agree that LAC would be a great option as well. They have a similar makeup as his old SEA team did. He wont be out of a job long.

Sorry. Raptors only hire unproven rookie coaches that never get hired again afterwards.

The Huskies however...
