Gasol for Lowry/Scola?

Quote:

Pau Gasol: He probably has the best chance of being traded among the current and former All-Star players. The Lakers are woefully short in the backcourt and with depth and athleticism. He was in that aborted preseason deal to the Rockets, and their interest is said to remain the most significant. The deal that’s been most speculated is Gasol for Luis Scola and Kyle Lowry. The Rockets are said to be high on Goran Dragic and Jonny Flynn to replace Lowry, and the Lakers desperately need a point guard under Mike Brown’s system. This is a deal, denied for now, that benefits both teams and seems likely to be made.

Chances of Gasol being dealt: 75 percent.

That would destroy Houston :S

a good deal for Houston.

Seeing Scola give LA fits in the playoffs makes me euphoric.

Seeing Scola play for LA would make me sick. Please no.

TORaptor4Ever 02-27-2012 04:09 PM

HOU is underestimating just how valuable Lowry is if they think that Dragic and Flynn are going to replace him.

I think it's about getting a better big man which they've missed for years. Lowry is by no means irreplaceable.

LX 02-27-2012 04:37 PM

Yeah - as nice as Scola has played in the middle, he isn't terribly efficient and has to work like hell against a lot of matchups. Houston has been pretty desperate for some size.

Lowry's avging 15/5/8 + 2 stls so far this season. Those are very good numbers for a PG. He's also one of the league's best defenders at the position and is only in his 5th season. He's not irreplaceable.... but it's a clear downgrade at the position unless you're getting an all-star PG in return. And in today's perimeter-oriented league I'd value Lowry more than Gasol TBH.

LX 02-27-2012 04:40 PM

I guess a lot depends on how much Pau has left in the tank.

INSIDER 02-27-2012 04:51 PM

Pau is declining... fast.
i think this would be a great deal for LA, mainly because Lowry is one of the most underrated PG's in the game. And him taking over fisher's spot would be amazing for LA... in fact, anyone taking over Fisher's spot would be fantastic.

i said it before, and i'll say it again; LA trading away Odom for a bag of chips was the biggest fail in years for LA.

Blaze 02-27-2012 07:39 PM

What's wrong with Houston's management? They had Aaron Brooks who was playing amazing, then they decide let's trade him to give Lowery minutes. Now that Lowery is playing amazing, it's time to ship him off to give the back ups more minutes. :dead::dead::dead::dead::dead::dead:

Shitty for Houston

Metallikid 02-28-2012 06:19 AM

Lowry/Bryant/Artest/Scola/Bynum would give the Lake Show a legitimate chance of getting back to the Finals. :cookie:

I still think they need another SG/SF to compete with the other elite teams in the finals.

carp 02-28-2012 12:12 PM

Gasol/Bynum/Bryant is still one of the most dominant threesomes in the league. They should have amnestied Walton and just signed someone in the offseason. The more I think about it, LA should not trade Gasol or Bynum unless it's for Dwight..... and even then, seems like that might set them back this year.

this chicago bulls reporter gets it wrong 9 out of 10 times

Toby 02-29-2012 11:03 AM

Lakers aren't bad, I don't understand why their always in trade rumors.

Have faith, in Steve Blake
