Default Game of the Year so far: LAL@PHX

9:00PM
ESPN, TheScore

Starting lineups:

LAL- Fisher, Kobe, Radmanovic, Odom, Gasol

PHX- Nash, Bell, Hill, Stoudemire, O'neal

Key bench players:

LAL- The Machine Vujacic, Farmar, Turiaf

PHX- Barbosa, Diaw

Key matchup: The frontlines. Odom has never had to guard Stoudemire since being a Laker, and I think it's the same thing for Gasol with Shaq.

Prediction: PHX wins by 5 and Shaq in his debut goes for 16+7+2(Amare-30+10). ESPN and media outlets everywhere go crazy over his debut and declare the NBA is over.

I think it woulda been better if his debut was in Lakertown. Just imagine the crowd and atmosphere from tip off. It'd be beyond playoff like.

ya.. good point.

But it'll also be good to see a pro-Pheonix crowd in Shaq's first game. I'm a suns fan, and i've always liked shaq, so the crowd reaction will be in my favour.

We'll see what Gasol is made of tonight because Shaq is going to be pumped up.

I agree thriller, shaq is going to try to eat gasol alive, the good thing for gasol is he is shooting out of his mind from 6-7 feet so he is not going to have to post shaq too much.
its going to be an offensive madness since the lakers defense it hasnt being very good lately (except bryant who is defending amazing), and phoenix, well its phoenix.
My prediction is 120 - 115 phoenix wins.

PHX struggled without Shaq in the final 2 mins.

I dont get teams dont play zone vs the triangle. LA is killin them with the top iso.

Its been a pretty good game, i wouldnt call it game of the year tho, just most hyped up, to think Shaq would have major impact in very 1st game with Suns is asking alot. For me the game of the year was the 1st Boston-Detriot meeting and the 2nd one was good too, but this game is definately shaping up to have a nice finish I really like what Shaq should be able to bring to the suns

Wow, what a game. Bryant is just too good and gasol playing really smart on offense.

i was on the fence with LA.. i really thought they were a fluke, but they are for real.
is it that kobe is that damn good, or is it phil jackson?
whatever it is, they showed the suns who was boss tonight... way to rain on shaq's parade...

Phoenix has some troubles come playoff time. Even with Shaq, they're gonna struggle to maybe even win a series. If I'm Kerr I make a move to improve that bench, pronto.

The Lakers? The Gasol-Odom-Bryant triumverate is actually scary. Right now, in the West, seeing them play for about a week now, I don't know who can beat them in a seven game series. Funny what like 6 months will do.

heh... i wonder if Kobe still wants out?

Unfortunately i didn't catch the second half as i fell asleep.

Either way, i think Shaq will have to adapt to the PHX style and it will take a handful of games for him to get totally comfortable - although he did look pretty good out there and you can see he was hustling.

His post game comments were pretty funny. saying something about once he gets fully in sync with the team they're going to be the best of all time.

I hope it works out for the Suns and it very well could, but after watching last nights game I think a starting five of Shaq, Amare, Hill, Bell and Nash looks better on paper than it will out on the court

I didn't watch the game, but I say give it time in Phoenix. Shaq said it himself after the game that its going to take time for everyone to get used to one another. So, I'm sure a disappointing result for Suns fans last night, but once Shaq gets back into shape I think the Suns have a great opportunity to win it all this season.

its actually to bad his first game came vs the lakers...
any other team and they would have crushed them... even SA, even detroit.
out of all the teams, LA is too powerful for the suns to handle. and when bynum comes back... wowza... they will be even better.
LA wins at almost every position on the floor.
