Default Flagrant Foul Reviews

The NBA needs to get rid of the flagrant foul review, or limit it to once or twice per game. It's making the NBA even softer with the refs calling flagrant fouls on regular hard fouls just so they can take a look at it and slow down the game to a crawl at times. And again, most of these fouls aren't even close to being flagrants, and the definition of the flagrant is changing now almost to a point where soon enough hard fouls will all be called flagrants and players will be afraid to wrap someone up who's bigger than them to stop a layup, which is a smart basketball play, not a flagrant.

LeBron upset by what he thinks are flagrant fouls | NBA.com

Watch the Bulls get physical with Lebron video and see the nonsense Lebron is complaining about. The first play, Hinrich wrapped him up for a second to avoid an easy layup, and then immediately let go, but there wasn't anything flagrant about the play in terms of trying to hurt Lebron, he was just going so hard to the basket that both were going to get brought to the ground because of the physics of the play.

The second play Lebron gets his arms wrapped up, again to avoid an easy layup, and he says in the post game interview that it was a grab around the shoulders and that it was a flagrant because of it being so dangerous, give me a break.

Then the third play, which was by far the closest to a flagrant foul(called a flagrant one) when Lebron purposely shoulders, and attempts to elbow Boozer right in the chest. I dont think this should have been a flagrant either, but the league is so soft now that plays like these aren't tolerated even though they add great intensity to the game. It's funny, because if Boozer did that to Lebron, Lebron would have flopped and been on the ground for 3 minutes and Boozer would have been immediately kicked out of the game.

The flagrant fouls of todays games and the reviews are ridiculous. It would have been really interesting to see how Lebron would have fared in the late 80s and early 90s when punching someone didnt even get you kicked out of the game sometimes, and plays like this were normal every quarter. Lebrons a little bitch and he needs to man up.

I don't quite understand, you're complaining about flagrant foul reviews in the Miami/Chicago game, but they didn't overturn or call any flagrant fouls based on the reviews.

The only flagrant called was on Lebron, and that was called a flagrant before the review.

My complaint is that they're calling regular fouls flagrant fouls now just to be able to review them. Not only does it slow down the game, but now a lot of the regular fouls that would have never been flagrants in the past are kept as flagrants after the refs review it because the definition of a flagrant keeps changing every year to a point where soon enough hard fouls are going to be flagrant fouls consisently. Soon enough no one will end up trying to commit a foul to stop an easy layup due to the fear of giving up an extra point because it's going to be called a flagrant. It's getting closer to that point IMO. I see it almost every game where a player falls hard because theyre in an uncompromising position when they get hit, and its called a flagrant just because of the fall, or a player intentionally flails after getting hit a la the Lebron clip I showed and you know the refs are going to call it a flagrant.

That Lebron-Chandler gif is awesome..... and really shows part of the problem. Lebron thinks he's getting unfair treatment but doesn't realize just how good he has it. The dude never gets called for fouls so he's just too used to it.
