And I wonder how much I would have been enthralled had there not been the Knicks to cheer against. Having NY suck for so long has left a bit of a hole in terms of juicing up the excitement.
I can't help but feel badly for the Knicks.... those last 2 years that they made the finals ('99 and '94) I really felt like they deserved one. A real shame that Ewing wasn't healthy when they played the Spurs. Would have made the matchup much better.

As a Raptors FAn its definately Game 6 of the Raps vs. Sixers serious. Not only was one of the biggest wins in Raps history I was there watching Carter just sink everything like the net was a lake.

As a Kid it was problably this game. Who knew my fandom hatred for Zeke would grow after this.

Like I said: best talent in the game, not the best basketball player though. Everyone has their own reasons, but we agree he ain't number 1.
i said all that to counter your point of calling him overrated.

every player fails miserably, but not every player consistently makes his team a championship contender every year like he does, to me that's not overrated.

That's the 1st time I've seen the replay of that shot since Reggie retired 6yrs ago (which was 7yrs after that game), and my memory was still accurate on how the play developed! Thanks for sharing!

My favourite NBA memories thus far is the Mavericks 2011 Championship Run; specifically sweeping the defending NBA Champions LA Lakers, Dirk's crazy game1 & game 4 vs OKC, and then their 4 wins in the Finals.

Before that, my favourite memories were:

-December onward & playoffs of the Raptors 2000-01 season, highlighted by our series win over the Knicks, Vince's 50pts in gm3 vs 76ers, rookie MoPete having 17pts/7asts in gm6 to force gm7 (despite getting inconsistent burn & coaching from Lenny Wilkens, who failed to recognize MoPete was a senior & best player on the NCAA champs MSU team, and got after it defensively; I met MoPete a month before that season started & told him "lotta teams are gonna kick themselves for letting you fall to our 21st pick" and I was 100% right), which turned out to be a classic.
-winning 12 of our last 14 regular season games without Vince (and then without other rotation players who got injured in that run) unto sneaking into the playoffs, taking the Pistons to the (then) limit of 5 games in the 1st Rd.
-watching Chris & MoPete develop in 04-05.
-our W's in the 06-07 season, specifically against good teams
-whenever we beat elite teams in recent years

I was at that game. The Lin bandwagoners were pissing me off, but I'll never deny the atmosphere and intensity the crowd brang that game. Best game I've ever went too.

That game was easily my favourite I've ever watched. Down 25 points in the 4th.

Besides several Brandon Roy fueled comeback victories in recent memory, the funnest game I can recall was a Laker beatdown on the Blazers about 8 years ago. Portland was in the middle of suckin', and Laker fans were especially high on crack and Martini's that day. Some ruckus started initially with Dale Davis down low, then some pushing and shoving started happening at mid court. Then Derek Fisher ran over to grab Dale Davis, and Davis simply cocked his fist back and looked right at Fisher coming at him. Fisher laid on the brakes and quickly turned around wih this "oh shit" expression on his face. Dale Davis stood there with his fist up, and everytime a Laker came near him, they basically all did what Fisher did, brakes, turn, omg, that's scary, run away.

I had a good laugh about it at least, nobody got hurt, that's what's most important.
