And you seriously think Fields is better than Derozan? Really???? Please tell me how, oh wise one.
Well, he can make a shot. And he can grab a rebound. And he was runner up for rookie of the year before being absolutely fucked over by Melo and stats, only hitting his stride when they were hurt and the rest of the knicks actually got to play basketball for a while.

Derozan was in the Dunk competition, and got some stats by default.

Derozan was in the dunk competition? He must suck if he couldn't beat that chump that jumped over Ikea.... what? a kia? That's not very impressive.

Lets look at this from an entirely different angle now.

NY is gutting their team to add Nash, losing their best young prospect, likely losing the other in Fields, they are left with one guy that has any defensive skills in Chandler.... I sure hope thy can score because they are going to give up 110 a game.

So now, NYC and its legion of fans will decimate the Raptors for the next 6 months. All our guys need to do is hand them their asses. If there isn't enough motivation now, then fuck it, why do any of us really care right?

Oh, yes, and if were clever, we could take Lin too...he's pretty decent

If NY can keep Shumpert, they're going to be title contenders next year if Nash does indeed sign with them. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Nash is one of the only PGs in the NBA that can make a halfcourt offence with Melo and Amare work. Woodson is a very good defensive coach, so I wouldnt worry too much about their defence, they'll still be above average, especially with Shumpert in the lineup.

Dude Shumpert is the Effin centerpiece of the whole trade.

You need to look on twitter, Knicks fans are losing their shit over this, and not in a good way.

All 30 GMs take Derozan over Fields. If you seriously think he's better than Derozan you need to have your head checked. The only things Fields has over Derozan is defensive rebounding, and help defence. You insinuating that Fields can make shots(more than Demar) is hilarious given the season he just had.

56% free throw shooting guards who cant defend their position are awesome.

How does NY make their junk look so pretty and we have losers like Weems that get zero attention?

Shumpert is one of the premiere perimeter defenders in the NBA. With that starting 5 and some decent bench signings, why can't they be at least the 2nd best team in the East? And honestly, that starting 5 would matchup well with Miami, assuming Nash gives Amare life again. Shumpert defends DWade very well.

Not that I agree with SJ's assertion that DD > Fields but c'mon Thrills... you know that last season Melo fukked up the Knicks BIG-TIME.

The year before Fields shot 50/40/76 over 80+ games. Those are stellar numbers for a young guard. No reason to think that he can't get back to that again. He's a smart kid.

EDIT: Also... BOS will be the 2nd best team in the East next season.

Don't insult me pal, it isn't necessary. This is what I mean about you taking things so seriously. You have been so good for the last couple years, but here we go again.

Calm the fuck down man.

You have to place blame on the players themselves once in a while too. Fields didnt look like he was in good shape last year either, he didn't hit the boards anywhere near as much, and his shot fell off a cliff. That's not Melos fault. That goes towards his preparation and hard work.

after one season? can we cool our jets on this kid. a year ago the knick fans were all over fields nuts. now we're whining about signing him and want it rescinded. he had a good rookie season it happens.....but nothing is garanteed especially coming off the acl injury.

As a Toronto and Dallas fan...this has been the worst off season imaginable.

I feel like crying and hitting myself with a cinder block.

That being said, I say fuck it to everything and let's see what BC can do to get us out of this clusterfuck. I dig Ross, I like Fields too. I want this team to be as scrappy and defensive as possible. Just get us a decent PG and we can make the playoffs.

you might be right, so maybe you got a runner up ROTY that just needs outta NYC and a slight kick in the ass. Dwayne Casey anyone??

Just be patient Thriller, this can all work out ok for the Raptors, Nash wasn't the end of the world.

If things go well, Toronto just may come out looking like the cat that ate the bird!

I'm not insulting you, I'm insulting your post insinuating that Fields is a better player than Derozan. It's nice that posters try to find the positives in all the signings we make(if we go back to the Kapono and Kleiza threads, I'm sure we'd all have a good laugh right about now) but it is what it is.

Our management sucks. 16 years upcoming and we've had 1 1st round win. BC has had no success in building a contender in his years here. Are we ever going to turn the corner with him, judging by past history? How can anyone give a confident yes to that?
