So it looks like we got the worst value for our starting lineup?

the underpaid list is just players on their rookie contract. way to be creative.

I think it would've been more interesting if he looked at current salaries. Sure, they aren't getting payed till lockout, and some aren't resigned.
But Eddy Curry or Troy Murphy being overpayed last year is beaten to death.
Besides, it makes no sense to see Noah's rookie contract when he has a huge extension secured.
Also, sup with Noah being judged by rookie contract, and Durant by extension? They both had rookie money last year, and got extensions at the same time... At least apply the same rules to everyone.

I love Coon's work, and CBA faq is an amazing piece of info, as are some of his CBA articles. I'm glad he's getting more mainstream attention lately.
But this article is pretty weak by his standards.

You would expect bad teams to get worse value since they can take on bad contracts to get picks/youth to build with.

I assume ours had Peja's in it?

No - it was based on the average rating of the starting lineup only.

Yes, but it was also based on the entire team's salary. So dead weight contracts definitely had an impact.

Ah yeah - I see that. It's a little strange. He should have matched the salaries of the starters with the rank of the starters, or matched the salaries of the whole team with the average rnk of the whole team.

But there is something useful to be taken out of that. The bad contracts that end up being sexy at one point to someone, because it will expire sooner than another bad contract. There is too much value given to future financial flexibility, and too much of a mindset that bad decisions can be minimalized as long as that future flexibility can be held out there. The value doesn't need to show up right now, as long as we can be sold on the idea that it will at some point. And we get mediocrity at best. It's just ass backwards.

I wish they could disclose sports journalist salaries so we can gather up a ring of intelligent fans to rate the most overpaid and underpaid sports journalists out there. I'm sure Mr. Larry Coon would be up their in that list.

Really I'm tired of comparing money to productivity.

I doubt it, his main job is hoopsworld i believe. They are too small time. And a few guest articles on espn and elsewhere won't make you millions.
