Associated Press
MINNEAPOLIS -- San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has broken his left hand against Minnesota and is out indefinitely.

Ginobili
The Spurs say Ginobili will be examined by team doctors Tuesday in San Antonio. There is no timetable for his return.

A two-time All-Star, Ginobili was injured when he fouled Anthony Tolliver as he rose to shoot the ball late in the second quarter Monday night. Ginobili immediately grabbed his shooting hand and crouched in pain near the scorer's table as the team trainer came to his side.

Ginobili was taken for X-rays, which revealed a broken fifth metacarpal, below his pinkie. As he walked back to the locker room, Tim Duncan gave him a pat on the head.

Ginobili had eight points on 3-for-6 shooting in 12 minutes.

Sucks for the Spurs, and hope he recovers for next season. A huge lost for the spurs now

TORaptor4Ever 01-02-2012 10:47 PM

Ouch. Bye-bye Spurs.

Dark Knight 01-02-2012 10:47 PM

Holy shit. Spurs are after Andre Drummond! :police:

jeffb 01-02-2012 10:50 PM

Oh well! Time to rebuild, that team is toast! Watch us get Tony Parker in the summer. lol

Don Vito 01-02-2012 11:02 PM

Spurs are done without a doubt. No trade would help their situation... Manu was the heart & soul of the team... they will be LOST without him. Time to trade duncan/parker for young pieces and tank for a pick.

Spurs ain't getting Andre Drummond, unless they go 15-51. Or they trade Tony Parker + Jefferson for a first round off wizards or somethin

Sucks for Spurs, like they're team, solid vets that are humble, sucks to see Manu get the broken hand

He was gettin' it done. He's a tough dude, we'll see him back on the court in a month.

are we going to see a tanking just like the year before Duncan?

Belsius 01-03-2012 09:17 AM

Unlucky play for an unlucky player when it comes to injuries. But I guess thats what comes whit having such a reckless and aggressive style. Too bad, one of my favorite players.

LX 01-03-2012 09:20 AM

That sucks so bad. He might have been playing his best basketball. I was thinking he was entering a Nash as MVP part of his career when, like with Nash, he was supposed to be in decline. Did anyone see him with the bounce pass through Raja's legs last week? Damn.

Grizz 01-03-2012 05:26 PM

Even if he only misses a month, they play 19 times in the next 30 days. In a season like this, even a month might be too long when almost all their offence (from what I've seen) runs through him.

The Spurs will hold Manu out of the lineup longer than actually needed, fall down the standings, win the lotter and draft Anthony Davis.

Davis takes over for Duncan, Kawhi takes over for Bowen, they pull two European/South American players out of their ass and, boom, another dynasty is born.

Seriously though, he shouldn't miss too much time. I doubt this results in the Spurs missing the playoffs and Gino will likely be back in the lineup by the end of the month. They may not be able to contend for the top seed in the West, but really, the West is so tight that seeding is much less important than the matchup you will get in the 1st round.

I love the faith in the Spurs. They're still a playoff team but thats brutal. Love Ginobili!
