Moving Bledsoe in Clippers' plans?

Eric Bledsoe | Clippers

The Clippers don't have a pick in this year's talent-rich NBA draft, but one way to get a pick -- potentially a high one at that -- would be to deal one of the team's biggest commodities, backup point guard Eric Bledsoe.

The cat-quick Bledsoe played well on the big stage in the Clippers' playoff series' against Memphis and San Antonio, and looks like a rising talent that could start for many teams in the league. But would it make sense to deal him, just because you're a team with Chris Paul and no first-round pick?

Not according to Eric Pincus, senior writer at HoopsWorld.com. "If Bledsoe was in the lottery -- you'd trade in to get him," Pincus tweets. "Not trade him to get into lottery."

The Clippers need to get younger at small forward, and with guys like Kentucky's Terrence Jones and Baylor's Perry Jones III looking like they could fall into the latter half of the lottery, we have to think this could still be something the Clips would have to consider.

Portland and New Orleans both have two lottery picks and each needs to address the point guard position. That could be a fit right there. New Orleans has the No. 10 pick, and Portland own the rights to the No. 11 selection, so keep an eye on that.

Bayless could take him easy

I like Bledsoe and everything but hes extremely overrated after that playoff run. Start for a lot of teams? Please. He has one of the worst jumpshots for a guard in the NBA, he is a bad FT shooter, his passing is sub par, and even his ballhandling is iffy. He'd be exposed as a starter unless he makes huge strides in the next couple of offseasons which is obviously possible but who knows. I wouldnt trade a lotto pick for him. He's basically perfect for the 6th or 7th man role of changing the tempo of the game and being a nuisance on defence.

Well then, good to know you like him and everything. Lol

I like his game, but his game isnt at a level where he'd be an effective starter for the reasons I stated. Not trying to be a hater, but the notion that he could start for many NBA teams just isnt true at this point. Anyone whos watched him play enough knows that. ESPN as usual doing their best to hype the trending player to be something he isnt.

why trade the pick when you can get Marquis Teague later in the draft?

i'd rather have bayless

I totally agree, too inconsistent and definitely a fringe starter at best.

He's a good player, but not quite sure if he would fit with what we have planned.

dfunkie1 06-01-2012 05:06 PM

i wouldn't mind him as our back-up guard. the dude would be a nice change of pace to calderon. if we land lowry, forget it.
