Ellis to Boston for Allen?

Warriors would be nuts!!

While the Celtics have maintained repeatedly that they have no intentions of moving any of their core guys between now and the Feb. 18 trading deadline -- and I believe 'em on this one -- multiple league sources confirmed today that the Golden State Warriors are giving some thought to putting together a trade package that would involve Monta Ellis going to Boston in exchange for Allen.
Warriors may offer Ellis for Ray Allen

Allen is a way better fit for that team than Ellis.

I wonder if a 3-way trade could be made with Calderon/filler going to GS... Ellis going to Boston.. and Ray allen coming here.

Ray's got one more year on his contract then expires? + we get to get rid of Jose. + Anyone who doubles Bosh will get an automatic 3-pointer in their eye.

GET IT DONE BC!

Boston is getting older. Ray Allen's best days are behind him.

Ellis is a sick player.

Ellis and Rondo backcourt? Amazing.

Ellis can play when Banks, Wright, Evans and Amir are on the court.

How many shots does he jack per game? I'd take Ray Allen over him any day of the week.

I don't see Rondo and Ellis working well together. They both are guards who like to penetrate into the paint.

I think Allen is a better offensive fit for the Celtics. Nonetheless, Ellis would give the Celtics better long-term prospects.

From the Warriors perspective, they might as well pack it in for a few years (if they haven't already) if they're trading Ellis for Allen.

Why would the Warriors do this??? As much as I like Ray he is on the decline of his career. The Warriors would be as bad as the Nets this season if it weren't for Monta. He has busted his ass almost every game. He must be averaging the most minutes per game in the league right now. As far as I know he had a streak of games where he played the full 48 minutes. But if this is still the same GM who gave us Belinelli for free, there is a possibility of this happening lol.

If you can't understand why the Warriors would want to do this, then you need to read the full article. That, and you need to appreciate the economic realities of the NBA right now. It may not make sense on the surface, but there is some logic behind trying to make this kind of move.

1 - Right or wrong, current GS management wants Curry to be the main guard/ball handler in their future. A back court of Curry and Ellis isn't going to get to the playoffs.

2 - GS is in a tough financial situation. It's possible that the organization is going to be sold soon. There are two ways of making the team easier to sell: a) have a competitive team with lots of assests, thus making it a desirable product b) have very few longterm financial commitments, so that the new owners can decide for themselves what direction they want to take the organization. Given that option "a)" is not a possibility, ownership is looking to shed Ellis's contract, so that the GS does not have any long term contracts. The Warriors don't want Ray Allen because of what he does on the court, they want Allen because he has an expiring contract. Running an NBA franchise is not only about basketball. It is also a business.

Now, as the article points out, this deal will never happen. Ellis is just not a good fit for Boston. GS needs to find another team with an expiring(s) contract, if they want to unload Ellis.

Boston already has Rondo. If they didn't have him signed long term then I'd understand this rumor but dealing Allen who's a good defender and helps that offense stay honest in the post game, would be a really dumb move.

Ellis would be a better fit in NY with D'Antoni.

Eillis would be a better fit here, at the pg spot.

Yes, let's a bring a guy who struggles defensively especially against bigger guards. Let's add to our defensive short comings.

At pg on this team with hEDO running the point forward spot he would be an ideal fit.

So you make him an undersized two and go with a defensive back court of DeRozan and Ellis or you deal DeRozan and go with a back court of Ellis and Jack where Ellis gets killed by Allen and Wade?

Bad idea for Boston, Pierce and Rondo already handle the ball. Allen is a spot up shooter for them. I don't see ellis fitting in. Boston needs to improve their bench thats it.

Only reason Warriors do this is to shed the contract of Ellis'. He is a really good player and if Garnett can have an effect on him they will be a sick team

totally a bad move for both teams.

boston ruins the big three/four chemistry that makes them a contender, which by the sound of pierce and garnet's creeking knees is in its final years.

GS trades a wonderful young talent for an aging all-star, terrible long-term move.

both these GMs should be fired for even letting this rumour get out.
