Heat Eddy Curry to sign with the Heat

Quote:
Eddy Curry is expected to sign with the Heat on Friday, according to sources.

Curry has played in just 10 games since the 08-09 season, but averaged 19.5 points per game in 06-07.

Why not? 1 year? If he sucks, release him. If he shows any sign of life that he can play the Heat win. If he sucks the Heat don't lose anything.

Before Curry lost any talent he had, he never had the post defense and hustle offense that the Heat signed him for.

I'm not sure how Heat expect this to work. His only skill was to score but only when he's fed the ball. He never learned to pass out or anything else. He'd be a terrible fit even in his prime.

Now feeding him a burger motivates him more.

he's a big body that can play behind anthony and spell off a few minutes for cb and haslem. that's really all they need.

Curry said he has lost about 70 pounds and Haslem said the team would like Curry to drop about 20 more, “where we could get him as close to 300 as possible.”

dayumm! he looks totally different!

i gotta say i've never really known the guy just the stories and of course his contract! But this interview really impressed me. Great attitude, humble, wants to try and extend his career. Respect.

A waste of money IMO, even for the minimum. Unless they find a way to combine him with Joel Anthony into one person - human centipede style perhaps?

I think Curry is going to do OK tbh. He has put A LOT of work into his physique and training and the Heat/Riley aren't signing just to sign - they've been over seeing the training. Playing with LBJ, Bosh and Wade is pretty ideal, they'll help him look good too.

i agree, i think he'll exceed expectations really. pat rielly really pushes fitness as a top priority so i don't think he would sign curry unless he thinks he could really contribute.

do you think there's ANY chance he could take over from anthony?

i'm not a fan of curry's or anything, but i like stories like that.

I would think they would have curry start and anthony come off the bench. anthony is not a starter and on offense its like the heat are playing 4 on 5 and we saw them struggle with that quite often last year. or the heat can go small and have Bosh play the 5 and haslem at the 4. either way, anthony's ideal spot is coming off the bench with the 2nd unit

I can't believe people think he will be starting for the Heat. The man has played a handfull of games over the last 2 years - no way he catches on to the Heat's systems quickly enough to be insterted into the starting line-up any time soon.

Eddy Curry sat out the first practice and is not exactly at the top of Spo's list:
