EC PLAYOFFS; ROUND 1: BOS WINS -- (3) BOS CELTICS - 4 VS (6) NY Knicks - 0

Rajon Rondo
Ray Allen
Paul Pierce
Kevin Garnett
Shaquille O'Neal

Chauncey Billups
Landry Fields
Carmelo Anthony
Amare Stoudemire
Sheldon Williams

Delonte West
Jeff Green
Glen Davis
Nenad Krstic/Jermaine O'Neal

Toney Douglas
Shawne Williams
Jared Jeffries
Ronny Turiaf

Key Matchups:

Theres so many interesting matchups in this series, but the key ones are obviously lie with the Knicks big 3 at their positions vs the Bostons players at those positions:

Rondo vs Chauncey- Rondo has had problems in the past vs Billups when being posted up, but the main key with this matchup is which Rondo shows up. The 1st half Rondo who quarterbacks his team into great looks, getting a ton of assists on the way, or the 2nd half Rondo who is tentative and playing like Anthony Carter out there at times.

Pierce vs Melo- These 2 always have great matchups vs one another and I cant wait to see who gets the better of who. Pierce will rely on his help D behind him, and if Shaq plays, then Melo is really going to have to find room in the midrange area to operate. If the Celts can force him to take jumpers in the halfcourt then the Knicks offence will stop to a grinding halt, and then the Celts will run away with things, so thats something to watch for.

Amare vs KG- This IMO is the most entertaining and the biggest matchup to watch. Amare is really the only big in the NBA who has consistant success in scoring the ball vs KG over the years, but at the same time, KG easily scores vs Amare on the other end. If Amare can go into his beast playoff mode the Knicks will have a good shot in the series.

BOS in 7. Its hard to pick against the Celts in the 1st rd, but this is really a tough matchup to predict with all the uncertainty going in to the series. How many minutes/how effective can Shaq be? How healthy is Amare and how is the Knicks chemistry since their big 3 hasnt played much together at the same time recently? Can Boston turn it on come playoff time.

Theres one thing that we do know, is that this is going to be the series to watch in the Eastern Conference.

I can see NYK winning this with how bad the Celts have been playing

I really wanted to see the Knicks and Heat battle it out. :(

Metallikid 04-12-2011 02:39 AM

Celts in six.

I agree but this matchup could still be entertaining

Nites 04-12-2011 05:21 AM

Celtics in 4.

Alex 04-12-2011 07:44 AM

I say this is a sweep. Or Celtics 4-1

DDUnreal 04-12-2011 10:02 AM

I can see the celtics underperforming & running out of gas, calling the upset.

jeffb 04-12-2011 10:09 AM

Boston in 6

The key for the Celtics will be slowing down the game to half court sets. THe only way the Knicks have a shot at winning this series is if they run the Celtics out of the gym.

I see the Celtics winning this in 6 but this isn't an ideal first round matchup for a team that has looked old and worn down after the all-star break. You could look at it as a shot in the arm for Boston if you feel like the Celts have been coasting, or you could look at it as a shitty series that will take the legs out of the Celts going forward.

Boston in 6.

Chiggmo 04-12-2011 01:16 PM

Knicks in 6 or 7, Boston hasn't done anything down the last few games and looked terrible in the process. We'll see I suppose.

Best East match-up in round 1. NY give Boston a challenge but Boston still wins it in 6.

js12 04-12-2011 07:36 PM

Interesting match-up with Boston's Big 3 vs. Stoudemire, Anthony and Billups.

I'm calling Boston in 5 with all games being settled by a narrow margin

Bill Haverchuck 04-13-2011 12:00 AM

This series could be interesting. The Celts have taken 1st round opponents too lightly in the past. This year Boston's opponent actually has a few proven playoff performers, so it could be trouble.

Knicks upset plzzzz

FoldedLaundry 04-13-2011 01:09 PM

Celtics win this. NYK doesn't play great defense

If Shaq plays in every game, Celts in 6.
