Default Dwight willing to sign with the Mavs

Quote:
As for the pipe dream of Dwight Howard, the Bulls have had preliminary talks with Magic general manager Otis Smith, according to sources. However, with agent Dan Fegan making clear Howard will sign a long-term extension only with the Lakers, Nets or Mavericks, the market will be limited. "It's our job to be in touch with all 29 teams and keep a pulse of what's going on in the market as far as any trade possibilities," Forman said. "But I wouldn't mention individual names or share our business."

Don't know if this was posted but looks like Dwight's jumping on the bandwagon.

so if he's traded to Bulls, Knicks, or Heat, he doesn't take the extension?
I think I'd take that risk if I were Bulls.
It would be too silly of him not to sign with those.

Jesus.

Dallas needs to do whatever they can to get him. If he comes, Deron will follow.

That will reopen Dirks window for like another 5 years.

He could play into his 40's with those two guys. Just taking jumpers all game long...

I think he should be a Timberwolf, that team needs some players, not the Mavs, Bulls, or Lakers

I just saw Dwight's interview where he says that the main reason he wants to leave at all is that Orlando GM didn't do the specific trades he asked. He "wants to be involved...."

(and i can't stand that attitude but that's beside the point)

In that regard, Prokhorov might seem much more accommodating. When they got Deron, the first thing Prokhorov did was take him to dinner, discuss how they are going to build around him, how they are going to build a global brand around him, etc etc.
While Bulls' Reinsdorf has this hardball rep of breaking up the Jordan team and forcing Jordan and Phil into early retirement.
So it makes kind of makes sense -- but not for the best reasons.

He just wanted some sort of excuse, to look like the victim in all this, so the fans wouldn't hate him as much.

A Dirk and Dwight tandem might be the best two 4 and 5 combo ever in the history of the league. Perfect offence and perfect defence, if this goes through Lebron's waiting another couple of years before he gets that first championship lol.

So his excuse to look better to fans is that the GM didn't do what he wanted? Yep, that's some victim.. Good grief!!!

Yes, somehow, he thought it's a good excuse. He even sounded very eloquent. It seemed well thought-out.
But it's so out of touch. How the hell will that make you look good?
But hey, LeBron made the whole Decision circus to make himself "look good". At least Howard didn't go that far.

That's the thing.

Even if Dallas doesn't have any other stars...Kidd, Dirk and D12 would be able to go quite far themselves. He'd be in a big market where he doesn't need to be the offensive focus or the true leader.

Everyone seems to be saying that Dirk is close to done which seems nonsensical. The guy just had one of his best seasons yet. He's better now in all facets of the game than he ever has been (sans athleticism of course). He's one of those guys who I can see still scoring an efficient 15-20 points into his late 30's.

D12 on the Mavs would not only ensure championship contention for awhile, but it would nearly assure Deron Williams signing there too. They'd probably be the least hated big 3 in the league...lol

I'm just hoping that they can keep this whole thing going. Their first championship was enough to last me a lifetime but surrounding Dirk with players of that caliber would open the door for much more.

unless they make themselves look 100 times worse by trying to make themselves look great via charity "Decisions" on espn

Btw, I thought Dwight was managing his whole "demand" thing very well from PR perspective.
The last few days, he was saying all the right things.
Like "I want to win" "but I love Orlando" "I'll keep working 100% hard in the mean time" "I don't want to leave Orlando with dick in its hand so I'm saying in advance" (i'm not sure if he used those exact words, I may be mistaken)
And today he goes out and says "I wanted to stay but I gave this GM a list of names and he didn't trade for them". Dwight, I think you forgot to consult your PR guy on that one

LOL.... I don't even wanna know how drunk you'd get if D12 ever signed with the Mavs Gizz hahaha.....

Would def. be the best frontcourt 1-2 punch in league history I think.

Make no mistake though... D12's a monstrous douchebag for weaselling out now when he was trying to sound like such a good guy when Bosh, Lebron and Carmelo left.

Again... you went to the NBA Finals THREE years ago... and you want to complain???

Players under contract should never be able to say ANYTHING to the media/friends/random hobo that sleeps beside their arena about wanting a trade to any other teams.
When you're under contract, you should honor your contract.
If your GM/Owner comes to you and says "will you resign with us next year (no), okay, then where can we trade you that you'll be happy so we can get something good out of the trade".
Players simply have too much power.
Players should be fined, heavily, if they speak out and demand trades.

Social media is going to continue to be a plague on the world, not just sports.
